Although we've stayed in Berlin dozens of times over the years, this was our first overnight in Potsadam. Boy, did we pick the perfect place. The location, quality of the room and friendliness/helpfulness of the staff was perfect. We had an enormous room (105) with a balcony which overlooked the square. We especially enjoyed chatting with the front desk clerk, named Lucy. She was not only kind and gracious but very helpful in making restaurant recommendations and giving directions. Read morePotsdam is a gem. This hotel is in the center of the old town, facing King Frederick the Great's beautifully restored Brandenburg Gate. Yes, you read that right. They have one in Berlin, too, 20 miles away, which is much more famous, but both old gates have in common that they face the old road toward the town of Brandenburg. This hotel has it all. If you are lucky, as we were, you get a Palace Room with a view of the square and the gate. Safe parking is available at a modest charge. Plenty spacious. The b&b part is physically behind the hotel in another building but very easy to get to. ||Breakfast was amazing. It not only included all the hot and cold dishes you’d expect but also cheese cake from their bakery, and ice cream. Cheeses and sliced meats of all varieties.
