Such a big punch in the face of good memories.
L'Osteria is one of our family's favorite restaurant in Potsdam and tonight we found out that delivery from the web site is available. So we jumped on it.
We ordered pizza, because this places pizzas rocks. And since we were frequently ordering antipasti and bruschetta from another Italian restaurant in Potsdam, we wanted to give a chance to L'Osteria as well. I mean, a place with such a tasty pizzas, how bad could it be?
First, order came a bit wrong. We ordered a coke regular but what we delivered was a coke light -because Coke was out of stock we have been told- with an ice tea as a "sorry". This was a bit odd for me because generally restaurants call you back if there is a product missing. But anyways, as I said, we like the place and we said ok. But then...
Then we have seen the antipasti and bruschetta... Wish we didn't see it.
Just look at the antipasti photo. 2 different boxes. Look at the portion size and the service. This is a 21,95€ food. Taste is super dull, all ingredients over each other. We are ordering from another place as I mentioned above, they deliver with a big plate, covered by folio, 24€ for 2 person. This? This is excuse me but a joke.
Bruschetta? 6,95€ of 4 slice of breads all over the place. You need a spoon to collect all ingredients from the box and put it on top of bread. Do it yourself bruschetta...
Pizzas were again probably the best in Potsdam but antipasti and bruschetta are unacceptable fails.
This was a very bad experience, since we adore the pizzas and the fast service with smiley faces I couldn't cut more stars.
But learnt our lesson in a harsh way, probably never order again -except...
Read moreAbsolutely appalling attitude from management — never again!
We called ahead to ask if, despite the closed outdoor seating, we could still order at the bar and sit outside. We were told that would be no problem. Once we arrived, the staff at the bar were friendly and helpful — but unfortunately, that’s where the positives end.
The so-called “manager” (the guy standing at the door controlling the line) was rude and completely unreasonable. He insisted that food could only be served in takeaway boxes — no plates — even though we were eating right there on the premises. Why? No explanation. Just attitude.
But the real low point? He actually reached into our bag and took out the metal cutlery we were given by the friendly staff member — forks and spoons — without a word. Just a scowl. As if we were trying to steal from the place. It was bizarre, patronizing, and honestly humiliating.
We had just paid 60 euros for three extremely average pasta dishes, and yet we were treated like freeloaders. If you enjoy being spoken down to after overpaying for cafeteria-level food, this is your place. Otherwise, avoid L’Osteria — there are far better spots nearby where customers are treated with...
Read moreCame for brunch, food was ok, personnel was busy so just asked for the bill indoors. Upon getting the bill and paying, I rounded up the costs with €1,50 something tip. The personnel hesitated and showed a huge attitude saying ‘is this it, just one euro tip?’. I responded simply with a ‘yes’ as I was very shocked by his response. I dont feel obligated to pay a lot of tip everywhere I go and especially if service is not particularly special. After saying ‘yes’, the personnel even made it worse by giving tsk, clicking sound.
Management should properly train personnel how to behave in these situations and tipping is an extra and reacting with a ‘tsk’ after getting according to him ‘too little extra’ is unproper. I have several years of experience working in restaurants and have experienced countless moments of people not giving tip which is completely fine.
Also, for your information, plenty people including me leave tip after paying the bill, on the table, seems like that personnel has never experienced it before.
A nice moment on the terrace with a satisfied belly ended up screwed over by your male personnel. Tipping is earned when you deserve it, you...
