Masala Haus — Restaurant in Potsdam

I recently visited this Indian restaurant in Potsdam and overall, I had a pleasant experience. The taste of the food was quite enjoyable, especially the chicken madras which had a nice level of spiciness. We also tried the chicken korma, which leaned towards the sweeter side, providing a contrasting flavor profile.

One thing to note is that the prices were slightly higher compared to Indian restaurants in Berlin. This could be attributed to the location in Potsdam, which tends to have higher costs. However, considering the quality of the food, the pricing was reasonable.

The restaurant offered a great ambiance with a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. We particularly liked the option of outdoor seating, which enhanced the dining experience. The staff were friendly and accommodating, making us feel well taken care of throughout our visit.

In terms of sides, we ordered garlic naan, which was delicious and perfectly complemented the main dishes. Additionally, the complimentary rice provided added value to the meal.

The place is well located. Food is delicious. But the attendant was a rude, IMHO, and charged us in excess although we noticed later.

We came about 3 or 4pm, and the place was pretty empty. The attendant was visibly uncomfortable that two of us asked for tap water. He said that in Germany, beer is cheaper than water. He said he'd only bring one free glass of water per person. Every single request from us showed some discomfort in his expression. When I asked to pay with credit card, same expression in his face. He brought the credit card gadget, I added the tip using the keypad while he was looking, and the transaction didn't go through. Then I tried a different card, but this time he added the same tip that I had previously added. I didn't see the numbers. The transaction went through. He asked me if I wanted to print the receipt. I said yes. Later I saw the receipt where he had added the same tip, but the total price was higher than in the first bill because basically he added the tip twice, once on the total price, and another time as an actual tip. I could not see the numbers and in the stress of a card not working (which did work in other places) I was more worried about paying. I hope this was a honest mistake, but I can say for sure that I'm not...

Following is my review based on the parameters:

Staff: Bunty was very friendly and as well other staff. Bunty came to our table 3-4 times to ask whether everything got was alright. This place has got amazing staff.

Food Quality: Authentic Indian food. Being an Indian I can recommend this place for the ones who wants to taste real Indian food.

Service: service was fast and they know their customers well.

Ambience: good seating arrangements. Also the restaurant is nicely decorated.

Location: very convenient to reach this place. 3 mins from neues palace. Very near to Dutch quarter.

Food options: They cover almost all the main dishes. Many options to choose from.

Taste: we had ordered 4 different dishes. All were tasty. Specially I had ordered Jain dish. I had not expected it to be so good. They prepared Jain fish specially for me.

Price: The price is same as compared to other restaurants in Berlin and Frankfurt.
