We discovered Kokono restaurant in Regensburg through TikTok – how else, right? While searching for a place to eat, several videos with very good reviews of Kokono popped up. That caught our attention enough that we decided to give it a try. As soon as we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the staff, who asked whether we’d prefer to sit outside or inside. We chose to sit indoors because we wanted to take in the atmosphere and see all the decorative details. The interior, decorated in warm red tones, felt cozy with a distinct Asian vibe. In the middle of the restaurant stood a decorative tree, and on one of the main walls we were impressed by a unique moss decoration – a very pleasant visual surprise.

We started with lemonades, and we were pleasantly surprised by their taste. They were well-balanced, and the selection was truly wide – no standard concentrate-based lemonade, but a genuinely refreshing drink. As a starter, we had sushi. Unfortunately, the soy sauce was a bit of a letdown – it was too salty and sour for my taste, so I ended up eating the sushi without it. Luckily, the sushi rice itself was nicely seasoned – not overly vinegary, not bland – just right.

Then came the main courses. We were surprised by the portion sizes – definitely larger than standard. The duck had a slightly unpleasant smell, but the seasoning was really well done. The sauce was mildly spicy and, most importantly, had a completely original flavor I’ve never had anywhere else. I have to give the chef credit for that – it wasn’t the usual taste you get at every other “Asian” restaurant. Although we didn’t finish the food because we were simply too full, we left satisfied.

Overall, I’d rate the experience 3.5 out of 5. I’d happily return to Kokono if I’m in the area again – or maybe visit one of their other locations in a different city. It’s not perfect, but definitely...

First visit this evening as well as the last. The quality of the salmon in the sushi was not of the best quality and I've eaten sushi in many other countries outside of Europe to know what is good, okay or bad. The prices are way too high for such low quality products. My friend was also not impressed with her raw beef meat in her curry dish, the meat was also not of high quality. If you are charging such high prices for food and drinks then I expect the same quality in the products used. I did complain to the waiter and they offered us 2 espressos on the house and I refused because I don't drink coffee, a substitute was also not offered to me because he, the waiter is only allowed to offer esspresso "on the house". After I paid I went outside the restaurant, the manager or boss of the restaurant drives away in a 100 000€ Range Rover while he fools all the customers who visit this establishment, including me this evening. Definitely NOT worth a second visit at all. I can recommend other Asian restaurants in Regensburg, which there are many of instead...

A place opened quite recently, from what I understand, with a large and enthusiastic public. That's in the beginning. If you are looking for a romantic, quiet, soft dinner, don't go to this restaurant. Interesting decor, with references to the "in the twilight fancy" coloristic notes of M-star rated restaurants. The staff is friendly, but not quite well trained, yet. The food is tasty, but does not exceed the average quality of restaurants of this type. On the contrary, you are likely to have some resounding misses. Dessert has never been a strong point of Asian cuisine. The drinks are interesting. Prices are at the upper limit of decency. Worth a visit, or two, out...
