11/22/22 IN ONE WORD FOR THE FOOD PREPARED AND SERVED HERE: AMBROSIAL!!!!!

We came to this restaurant to try the BEST German cuisine that we could find--and the RAVE REVIEWS OF THIS PLACE ARE HONEST REVIEWS!!!!!

I'm American (and there were NO English menus and my Google Translating App was not working), so the wonderful Madame of the establishment was patient and tried to help us find something that would interest us from the menu.

I am sorry that I can't give the names of what we ate, but I'll describe them: My order was tender pork cubes cooked/simmered in a 🍅 tomato based sauce with a dumpling. I also asked for their version of mac-and-cheese (spatula).

My partner ordered some sort of medium rare steak.

Salads came with my order, and he ordered a separate salad that contained slivers of potato, beets, and radishes.

During our wait, we were served bread with the most-delicilus whipped (garlic-creamy) tasting butter.

We were also served a small portion of cooked spinach and tomatoes with mozerella.

DESSERTS: We tried the plum dessert and the apple pie dessert. Both were very unique in style and taste. I enjoyed the apple dessert more.

At the end of the dining experience, EVERY woman receives a ROSE! This is such an elegant touch!

Oh! The interior of this place is Beautiful! You will not be disappointed dining here.

We were at this place from alproximately 6:30 until sometime shortly after 9 P.M. It's a great place to dine...

Hat mich nicht vollends überzeugt. Der Ansatz ist aber gut. Man sitzt etwas dunkel und das Ambiente ist gewöhnungsbedürftig, aber okay. Der Service ist bemüht, freundlich und geht auf Reklamationen positiv ein. An dem Tag war die freundliche Dame im Service allerdings aufgrund einer zwanzigköpfigen Gesellschaft einfach mengenmäßig überfordert, obwohl an der Theke ein sehr netter Herr offensichtlich aushalf.

Die Karte ist sehr schön, die Weine allerdings recht teuer. Die Portionen sind gigantisch groß. Ehrlicherweise wirklich zu groß - ich bin weiß Gott kein schlechter Esser, aber ich musste fast die Hälfte zurückgehen lassen.

Dafür sind die Preise auch gesalzen: Der schwäbischer Rostbraten Premium Qualität mit zweierlei Zwiebeln an Trollingersoße und handgeschabten Spätzle plus Maultasche (Festtags-Variante) lag bei knapp 37 EUR.

Andere Beispiele: Kalbsrückenscheiben an Morchel-Rahm-Soße mit Gemüseblättchen, feinen Bandnudeln und buntem Blattsalat mit Großmütterchen-Dressing 38,90 EUR. Oder "Gans vom Genz", Ofenfrischer Gänsebraten mit Apfelrotkraut, Kartoffelknödel und Preiselbeer-Schmorapfel 39,90 EUR, kleine Portion 29,90 EUR, die Portion glasierte Maronen dazu 9,50 EUR.

Die Qualität der Speisen wich aber stark ab: Rostbraten perfekt gebraten, exzellentes Fleisch, die Maultasche sehr gut, die Röstzwiebeln lecker, ebenso der sehr gute Kartoffelsalat, mir allerdings einen Tick zu viel Essig. Trotzdem prima.

Die Champignonrahmsuppe vorweg war gut, aber nicht überragend. Die Minuspunkte: Die geschmelzten Zwiebeln waren ok, aber leider etwas zu weich. Ebenso die Spätzle, die waren eigentlich gut, hätten aber definitiv deutlich mehr Biss gebraucht. Es ging fast Richtung wässrig.

Die Sauce war leider der negative Höhepunkt. Es war von "Trollingersauce" die Rede, und ich bilde mir da als gelernter schwäbischer Winzer und Hobbykoch durchaus ein Urteil ein: Das war eine zumindest mit Gänse- oder Entenjus bzw. -fett versetzte braune Sauce, die leider überhaupt nicht nach Trollinger bzw. Rotwein geschmeckt hat. Sie war überaus reichlich und gar nicht schlecht, aber sie passte halt überhaupt nicht zum Rostbraten.

Ale Entschuldigung gab's aber einen Espresso auf's Haus und die Kritik wurde angenommen. Das war vorbildlich. Wäre die Gesellschaft nicht gewesen, hätte ich fünf Sterne für den Service vergeben.

Also: Das geht besser, zumal bei den Preisen. Aber eine zweite Chance bekommt das Haus bei mir, besonders aufgrund des exzellent...

This place has a nice but small outdoor seating. Remember to book early and ask to be seated outside. In the Winter, I imagine that it is very cosy to be seated among the olden wood interior. The food was delicious and they have a seasonal Menu. I recommend reserving your place and if you come during 6 pm (peak dinner time), you might have to wait long for your food so try to come after that. From what I observed, the kitchen can handle only that much orders at the same time. It is not bad, it means they do it well and proper but the down side is just the waiting time. The plating of the food is very well and the portions are just nice. So don't expect large portions like Pub food or...
