Trattoria Salieri — Restaurant in Stuttgart

Excellent Italian food in a quiet residential area surrounded by leafy trees in Stuttgart West. The name of the restaurant is a bit tongue in cheek, as Salieri was Mozart's rival, and this eatery is in Mozartplatz! Their daily specials are written on a blackboard, besides a regular menu. The flavor, I was told by my dining companion, is definitely authentic, as Germany is much closer to Italy than the US :-). We ordered two primis, two main dishes, two desserts and two drinks. I wanted something unique, so asked for the grilled tuna coated in sesame seeds. It was exquisite - the fish is fresh, tender and juicy, while the thick layer of black and white sesame seeds add much flavor, a truly creative and delicious combination. And the portion was quite substantial - two large triangular filets. As a vegetarian, I could only stomach one piece, and my carnivore friend happily devoured the other piece, with amazement. It's a nice Italian spot that's usually pretty busy on the weekends. They have a menu of specials on the chalk board which is nice to see for the change in seasons and fresh produce!

It's a great location for a warm day. We were able to sit outside, which allowed us to keep an eye on our child playing at the nearby playground. The staff members were attentive.
