Tsang’s Kitchen Hong Kong Cuisine feels like a portal to Hong Kong itself, a fleeting escape to a place I’ve longed for through years of culinary exile.
For over a decade living in Italy—where the pasta is flawless but Cantonese cuisine is a shadow of its true self—I’ve craved the vibrant, soul-warming flavors of Hong Kong.
Finding this gem near my hotel in Germany was like stumbling upon an oasis. Every dish, from the tender, lacquered duck that shatters with flavor—its crisp skin and succulent meat a revelation that stings with regret for not knowing it sooner—to the perfectly balanced stir-fried noodles, carries the weight of homecoming.
The staff’s warmth wraps around you like a familiar embrace; the owner, with a quiet kindness, charges strangers’ phones and offers water to their dogs without a second thought.
It’s a place where humanity and hospitality collide, where a simple meal becomes a salve for years of longing.
I’m torn—part of me wants to keep Tsang’s Kitchen a secret, a sanctuary where I can savor every bite in peace.
Yet, I ache for their success, for the world to taste what I’ve found, to ensure they thrive and perhaps open another haven.
Each dish is a promise: you’ll leave fuller in heart and soul, haunted by flavors that linger like a memory you...
Read moreA very different dining experience. First you list down the numbers against the dishes you want to order on a small piece of paper. We ordered Guava Lemonade, German red wine, Wan Tan soup, Corn soup with crab meat, fried pork belly and fried duck.
After some long waiting we were served the drinks. Both not recommended. Lemonade smelt like bubble gum. Probably the choice of wine was my fault :)
After some more waiting time, we were told that fried pork belly was no longer available and they could bring grilled pork belly. Wonder why? See photo. Was difficult to communicate even in German.
The difference in experience was: first served drinks, - long wait - then soups - long wait - then grilled pork belly with steamed rice - then short wait after we finished the pork - then the fried dock was served. Is this typical manner of serving in Hong Kong restaurants? Would love to know. Replies welcome :)
One star less because of the long waiting period. Otherwise, delicious food and...
Read more2 visits in 3 days (lunch then dinner) to check out this new Cantonese/Hong Kong restaurant. We were delighted to finally be able to eat Cantonese food in Stuttgart, though it was a pity they didn’t offer dim sum. Thus far we found the sweet and sour pork and the 干炒牛河pretty up to par, the pork rib claypot rice was better than the chicken claypot rice. The roast duck was not too bad, just had too many bones. The Gongbao prawn was a tad too salty. They were short handed so the service was really slow, so do not be in a hurry when you dine there. The owners were friendly and it was a pleasure to be able to converse in Cantonese with them. Looking forward to trying out more dishes...
