Traube — Restaurant in Tübingen

While staying in Tubingen we tried Traube. They have fantastic outdoor seating and cute indoor seating. We started with kalamata black olives, it's a LARGE portion, comes with red onion, olive oil and parsley on top. Served with bread. Delicious and high quality olive oil. I got grilled Sea Bream. It comes with salad(which is more of a pickled salad variety. Red cabbage, pickled cabbage slaw, pickled radish, lettuce and tomato. I liked it a lot). The fish was fantastic, served with lemon and olive oil, and garlic vinaigrette. We also had a gyro with pita. It is a fried pita the size of the plate and topped with meat, onion, tomato and tzatziki. Very delicious meat, not shaved like some from the US expect, but still so good. Finished the meal with Ouzo....

Food with cheap quality . French fries were fatty not crunchy , definitely not self-made (convenience food) . Gyros extremely salty, impossible to taste what you eat. The salad was not typical Greek salad . The Zaziki don't taste self-made . I ordered a vegetarian food with zucchini and eggplant , and the waiter said it was very special . However , the taste was only like fatty oil. The reservation we made was for inside and we received a table outside , 9 o'clock in the evening , in the cold. They don't accept cards, only cash and I couldn't find it in the menu. I also asked for a menu in english but they have only in german . Awesome greek restaurant! Very friendly und helpful staff, a more than solid menue with lots of delicacies. Try for example their "Melitsanosalata" (grilled egg plant with garlic, walnuts and cheese) or a large plate of "Mese" (mixed starters), and you might not even need a main dish, because the servings are quite large. If you like intensely spiced mediterranean food you are going to love this place, expecially in the summer, when you can sit outside in the streets and enjoy the warm evening with a glass of Retsina or Ouzo. The prices are also competitive for Tübingen. You might find places with cheaper food or places with more exquisite dishes, but most likely not both at the same...
