Don't go there!
The outside looked nice, so we decided to check it out. Unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience from start to finish.
We waited for more than half an hour for some pancakes and cheesecake. When I asked about the delay, they were really rude, saying, "It'll come when it comes."
When our order finally showed up, it was all wrong. We told them, but they just walked away and left the wrong food on our table. I had to go back inside to set things right, and they only took the wrong dish and didn't do anything more.
We waited again, hoping to get our correct order, but it never came. The staff didn't seem to care at all, and they didn't even ask what we wanted.
When we wanted to leave, the bill took forever, and to top it off, they told us they only accepted cash, which they hadn't mentioned before.
When I complained, the staff just laughed at me. It was incredibly rude.
In short, I wouldn't recommend going there. The service is...
Read moreEntered the cafe and seated at the first available table, only to be shouted, by the woman boss, from the other side of the room, that the table was reserved. I was then accommodated to another table, that for pure luck was liberated exactly on that moment. Praise to the waiter that translated the German menu and explained me the content of every dish. Have an English translated menu on a museum cafe would be the basic…. Ordered a chicken salad, that came after about 25 minutes waiting. The chicken bites, tasted exactly like Lidl’s pre cooked ones, that I had the night before at home for 2.50€. The surprise come at the payment time.,. No credit cards accepted. I had to leave my ID card and walk to a bank to withdraw money. Wondered if this is Germany year 2022…. Poor waiters looks encumbered by the boss, you can see from their acts and looks that they are in some way suffering the bossy atmosphere created by the lady managing the place. Felt...
Read moreThe Café Zeitsprung is nicely situated in Trier's "Palastgarten", and on a sunny day, the outside patio often fills up quickly, because it it is a very nice spot to sit and read or meet or to just sit there and watch (other) tourists, ducks and geese.
Other than that, for this review, I would like to focus on the SUNDAY BRUNCH that is offered roughly from September to May. It is a good idea to reserve a table if you'd like to have brunch at Café Zeitsprung, as it is very popular with the breakfast crowd. And for good reasons. Compared to the Louisiana, the food is much better, and compared to the Brauhaus, the atmosphere is much nicer, as the Café Zeitsprung is much smaller and less crowded. This all comes at a price, though. Almost 15 Euro is what you'll have to pay (as of May 2014), and this does not include beverages. Still, as the food is very good and also caters to vegetarians, this is a good option for a Sunday...
