Excellent restaurant and winery with an unassuming vibe. The outdoor seating courtyard is surrounded by a wall and there’s an entry but we walked right pass it at first. The garden-filled courtyard is huge, lots of tables that are spread out so there’s a relaxed feel. Dinner was served on pottery plates and bowls which added to the rustic country feel. The food was fantastic. I had the homemade spatzel. highly recommend. My husband had the schnitzel which we said was the best he had the whole trip through Germany. The Germans have two pours for wine–a half glass (.1) and a full glass (.2). and the price is just over half for the half glass, fair enough. We wanted to taste several wines so we asked for a flight which they don’t do without prior notice but the waitress (who spoke excellent English) did offer to bring a series of 3 wines (half pour) across our meal time with 3 different wines according to our preferences and choice of meal for $15 which was actually a dollar more than if we had just chosen ourselves, but we felt this was worth it for her time. We both did it so we got 6 different wines which was a nice experience. We wound up buying one bottle. They served their own label and other local wineries without bias. Die Speisekarte was in...
Read moreThe wine tasting, which I booked beforehand via email, was the absolut Highlight! Alex Rinke the winemaker, was more than happy to talk about his wines and they were all so tasty!! The star for us was the brand new sparkling wine! The team were all more than lovely. We are on holiday and can't really leave our dog at the hotel so we were so happy when he instantly got lots of love and treats from everybody. That is not the case at every restaurant, let me tell you. The food was delicious. Bring an empty stomach, it's huge portions! The restaurant itself is in an really old former school, where Karl Marx did his Abitur, so thats also Special. Interieur is really nice and it has a nice ambience. We came as a couple but it is really well suited for groups. All in all: you feel and see that here are people working that care. Thank you for an...
Read moreI’ve been here 6 times now, and the main problem is that the quality of the food is inconsistent, as is the quality of the employees. I’ve had tapas 3 times, dishes 3 times. First time tapas was excellent, second time around the portions were smaller and the food was very salty. Third time around, still small portions still small, but bland taste. On to the dishes; I personally have had the steak (rare, taste was good, but gave me intestinal problems), the chicken breast with rice and curry (curry taste was good, both the rice and the chicken VERY dry), and a dish with squid and fried rice balls, which was really good. Employees; some friendly and cordial, others rude.
I guess if you have a good day, this is definitely a 5 star place, if you don’t it’s more like a...
