A conveniently located ramen place with a unique vibe!
I haven't been to a lot of ramen restaurants in Germany so when I was preparing to visit, I somewhat imagined a more traditional spot - so I was a bit surprised about the atmosphere and menu items that are both centered around popular anime characters. If you're a fan of anime/manga, I can definitely see you enjoying your time here, soaking in the slightly edgy atmosphere created by pictures of characters, anime music and dim lighting.
If nothing on the menu appeals to you, you can create your own bowl of ramen, however, there's enough selection that probably anyone will be able to find something suiting their taste. I'd say the menu items are, while quite tasty, catered to western taste a bit more and together with the heavy focus on anime, the place doesn't feel hugely authentic - however, I don't think that they have to be.
This is a nice restaurant with a chill atmosphere and nice waiters so if you aren't looking for a traditional Japanese style ramen but enjoy anime, this a place...

I recently tried Ayumi in Ulm and left feeling utterly disappointed. I really, really wanted the food to be great, but unfortunately it was so bad. I watched the kitchen staff pump the various soup bases into jugs which were then most likely mixed with hot broth/water. Not the long and slow cooked broth that is normal for Ramen.
My two minute noodles at home, really do a better job. Perhaps I should put some Anime posters on my wall and open a ramen shop too?
If you enjoy authentic Ramen and have had the pleasure of travelling to Japan or to a proper Japanese restaurant, you’ll also be let down by the subpar food here.
To the staff at Ayumi, rather than replying ignorantly, perhaps you can actually work with the feedback from your customers to serve a decent bowl of Ramen.
ドイツ料理から避難しようと考えている日本人がいればここはやめてください。おいしくない。

Read moreThe good: This place is big on anime as you can see even from the menu. Cool. We started with pork-kimchi gyozas, which were super tasty. Unfortunately this was the only good thing we would point out about the food.
The bad: First of all, we were waiting for an hour before we got our food. The place is obviously understaffed even on a Friday evening when a lot of people are to be expected. The waiter was a big anime fan and really sweet. This is a ramen place but I'll be honest, every average cook can make a better ramen at home if he or she has the ingredients. Also you get a small amount of protein and noodles which were unfortunately not anything special too. The broth comes seperately in a little jug and it's the only thing that's warm. The toppings come cold and cool the whole ramen dish down. Shame when the flavour does not compensate...
