Einstein Restaurant Cafe Bar — Restaurant in Ulm

This is going to be long; but shorthly; There are better tourist friendly options where you'll be treated decently as a customer, within a couple of hundreds of meters of range, through city centre, around townhall and cathedral. On 07/16/2018 around 5:45 pm, when I got back from my business meeting to maritim hotel, where we stayed for the week, we decided to go out and discover new places around. We found this café close to our place, thought we could go there, enjoy our meal and continue our hike through river then up to city centre. Around 6:20 we arrived this place, saw there were only a few people inside, and a family of about 6 people outside + another group of 3 on another table outside. When we were looking for a table, I saw the waitress approaching behind us, so I asked if we could sit there. She just rushed to the family's table and took care of them, naturally. Then she turned back to us with an annoyed manner, I tried to explain "the situation" of we, "would like to sit" Then she gathered remainings from the previous customers sat there then told us if we need menus. I couldn't resist this brilliant idea of hers and confirmed it by saying "yes we do, please". So she rushed inside, we waited for 10minutes as the 6th table of the whole café, first 5th was already served. Anyways on the 11th minute finally she arrived throwing two menus between me and wife and left, nobody would expect her to stay that moment. But you'd expect a waitress to come back, if we decided or not in, like 10 minutes? Ok maybe 15 it should happen, right? Well, we waited exact 33 minutes more, before we decided to leave. This case is the rare sad moments I have ever faced in Germany I must say. In most cases, if there is something wrong, people make explaination strict and clear to outsiders, so we can understand what the hell is happening. So, since there is no explaination, my best guess is she tried to refuse serving us, probably because our nationality-ies she assumed. This is not the first time I face with a racist attitude, but it's the most humiliating one, since my wife was there at the moment. I tried to hide it so hard not to make her understand what the hell waitress was doing. Anyways, after this treatment, we made our way to city center of a better, tidier and non-racist place brews their beers themselves right behind the cathedral. Can't remember the name, but you can see some "sneak peek" view of Ulmer...

I do a low carb diet, so I was trying to find protein and a salad. Einsteins looked to fit the bill. In spite of the temptations on their menu I had a burger minus bun and a mixed salad. I was surprised by the inclusion of a small amount of potato salad with the mixed salad, and regretfully put it to the side. The burger and salad were very good, and I always appreciate when the kitchen takes the time to make my custom order and present it nicely on the plate. The service was friendly and efficient, and the vibe was relaxing after a hard day sightseeing. I hope to go back...

We were here for the brunch. The cafe itself is quite nice and clean, staff is nice and welcoming. Food was really nice but to be honest they offer very traditional continental options. If you are looking for a modern brunch place this is not the place. I would point out that you also have a lot of different options to choose from the menu so you should be able to find an appropriate traditional breakfast for yourself.
