Taumi - Asia Fusion — Restaurant in Vereinbarte Verwaltungsgemeinschaft Bühl

First impression of this restaurant in Bühl: an okay place to eat, apart from the mindless piano music reminiscent of a hotel lobby. However, the waiter who came to take our order was unsmiling and curt. He went away leaving us with the impression that he'd done us a favor and after only 10 minutes a waitress appeared with our main courses, which surprised us because we'd ordered two starters as well. Instead of apologising she rolled her eyes and then the first waiter came to our table with our starters and said in a loud and reprimanding voice: 'Sie haben nichts gesagt und wenn Sie nichts sagen, wir bringen alles auf einmal!' So we were supposed to know that it is custom in this restaurant to bring all the dishes at once even though we chose dishes from the menu that said VORspeisen: appetizers that you normally have beFORE the main course. Taken aback and afraid they would throw the food away we motioned that they could bring the main dishes and told the waiter that he could have told us this a friendlier way. What of course should have happened is that they'd asked us if it was okay to bring it all at once instead of telling us off. The world upside down. How could we possibly have known? The whole situation actually spoiled our meal which we would otherwise have enjoyed. The food wasn't bad at all, apart from the fact that the gyoza had been deep fried instead of pan fried and steamed, as it should be done, and my sticky rice had gone lumpy on one side (probably not prepared to order). Also, the main courses had cooled off too much by the time we were ready to eat them, but the taste was good. The previous waiter (the manager?) didn't show his face again and had probably sent another member of staff (someone he had slagged off in public a little earlier, again really bad leadership) to deal with us. Best in area - Taumi Bühl Few suprises at the beginning. It seemed to be uninviting from the street at the basefloor gate. I even thought it was closed. But I'd been actually looking for best place to celebrate our stay during Oktoberfest and New Year, I've found Taumi Asian Fusion Buehl best in Black Forest Schwarzwald, and also one of the best, and will visit it again for sure. I recommend this Asia fusion space. The selected combination among featured Asian flavour with unique Japanese twist and distinctive Paris-influenced Indochina culinary tone which makes it a very different side of Eastern cuisine. It seems to be neither too sweet nor over-spicy like other regions' foods. Valentinstag versaut – Dank diesem „Restaurant“!

Wir hatten online reserviert und am selben Tag nochmal telefonisch nachgefragt. „Ja, kommen Sie um 20 Uhr vorbei“, hieß es in schlechtem Deutsch. Gesagt, getan. Vor Ort wurden wir dann allerdings nicht wie Gäste, sondern eher wie lästige Störenfriede behandelt. Der Empfang? Eine absolute Frechheit. Keine Begrüßung, kein Lächeln - stattdessen eine lange Schlange und ein genervter Asiate, der uns eiskalt erklärte, dass wir nicht reserviert hätten. Und das Beste? Er behauptete, NIEMAND aus dem Restaurant hätte mit uns telefoniert. Na klar, haben wir uns bestimmt nur eingebildet!

Aber man kam uns (vermeintlich) entgegen und bot uns an „20 Minuten zu warten“. Aus den 20 Minuten wurden 40. Als wir nachfragten, erklärte uns diesmal eine völlig überforderte Mitarbeiterin, dass heute gar nichts mehr frei würde. Die „20 Minuten“-Aussage sei einfach falsch gewesen. Na bravo! Anscheinend weiß hier die linke Hand nicht, was die rechte tut - von Organisation und Kommunikation hat man hier jedenfalls noch nichts gehört.

Doch dann kam der große Hammer: als wir enttäuscht das Restaurant verlassen wollten, schnappte sich ein Kellner spontan ein Glas von einem benachbarten Tisch und stellte sich uns direkt in den Weg, um uns noch eine „nette Entschuldigung“ anzubieten. Keine Ahnung was er damit bezwecken wollte denn das Restaurant war ja VOLL, hä?! Danke, das war wirklich… ganz bestimmt nicht der Service, den wir uns für einen romantischen Abend erhofft hatten...

Eine Entschuldigung? Fehlanzeige. Dafür jede Menge Unhöflichkeit und null Servicebewusstsein. Wer auf eine verlässliche Auskunft hofft, sollte sich das Telefonat sparen - hier kann nämlich scheinbar niemand richtig Deutsch und falsche Informationen gibt’s gratis dazu.

Da wir so hungrig wie enttäuscht waren, haben wir uns nach ewiger Wartezeit entschlossen, zur Konkurrenz zu gehen - und Überraschung: Die hatten spontan Platz, gaben uns einen Tisch, und das Essen war auch noch 100 Mal besser. Ihr habt es erraten - Tamnak Thai Restaurant ist die wahre Perle in der Nähe, bei der man wirklich noch weiß, wie man Gäste behandelt und nicht den Abend ruiniert.

Fazit: Wenn ihr ein gescheites Valentinstags-Dinner ohne Theater und Tränen haben wollt, geht lieber gleich zu Tamnak Thai. Dieses „Restaurant“ hier sollte sein Konzept und den „Service“ gehörig überdenken. Würde ich wiederkommen?...
