Café Pause — Restaurant in Vereinbarte Verwaltungsgemeinschaft Freudenstadt

A very comfortable place to sit and enjoy a tasty lunch or snack in the main plaza of Freudenstadt. The inside is also nice if the weather isn't cooperative. We got vegan Maultaschen and Semmelknödel in Champignonrahmsoße, both of which were delicious. They have a wide variety of cakes inside as well if you're craving something sweeter or would like dessert. Unfortunately the prices for the portion sizes is ridiculous. 12€ for two small Semmelknödel from a cafe is outrageous. The beer we ordered was pretty far from being full as well. In addition to that, the owner (presumably?) is very unfriendly. She got unnecessarily sassy with my husband when he asked if they had vegan options for cakes since they they weren't labelled as such, and she was less than patient with me as well when I was ordering a piece of cake myself. We were in Marktplatz at the end of a long walk through the forest and happened upon the Cafe Pause kiosk next to one of the fountains behind the museum. The smell of fresh crepes and tarts lured us in, and we were delighted by what we found. My two companions both tried the Black Forest Ham hot dogs (smothered with friend onions, mustard, and ketchup. One added a banana-Nutella sweet crepe, and the other bought two bags of cookies. I myself selected a Nutella crepe. We were all very satisfied with our food, and I would definitely go back there again. I visited Freudenstadt for the very first time in the hight of the summer months and I stumbled across Café Pause located directly on the Marketplace. I was greeted by delightful staff who were more than accommodating and spoke wonderful English - as my German is a little rusty to say the least ;) The Food was generously plated and the service was second to none. I enjoyed a delicious Flat White Coffee to round out my experience basking in the afternoon sun out on the terrace.
