Dorle — Restaurant in Verwaltungsgemeinschaft Schwäbisch Hall

Gathering from the looks from outside, I was expecting to dine at a German "gasthof" kind of restaurant. However, it turned out to be Greek as we sat down. Well, it was no problem for me either way.

To my certain surprise, there was no checking on our COVID vaccination certificate or no requirement to provide our contact information. It probably was due to Schwäbisch Hall being in a different state from where we live in Bavaria.

I still felt like some German food, so I ordered schweinschnitzel with fries and salad. My wife opted for their house special salad with chicken. My side salad was well-dressed with onion-heavy dressing. It tasted fine. Schnitzel could've used some more flavoring like salt & pepper, but accompanying sauce/gravy added some more flavoring. Meat was cooked well and tasted just fine. Fries were not salted or had a minimum amount of salt which I couldn't detect. I took care of that with ketchup. My wife enjoyed her salad though she gave me her peppers, olives and some feta to add to mine. She said her chicken was OK. I tasted one piece, and it was grilled alright, but it could've used more flavoring.

The service was rendered with a smile by a nice man. To summarize, a better than average restaurant--nothing really special, but the price and food quality were certainly just fine. As is often the case with these type of establishment it's cash only. It'll be helpful if you spoke...

Sind am Freitag Abend leider ohne diese Rezensionen zu lesen zufällig im Dorle gelandet. Außer uns war gerade einmal eine weitere Gästegruppe da. Bei der Getränkebestellung kam eine Apfelschorle groß, statt wie bestellt klein. Na ja, hinnehmbar, aber die Bedienung hat sich nicht dazu geäußert, geschweige denn entschuldigt. In der Speisekarte gibt es leider keine Kindergerichte. Auch ich wollte gerne nur eine etwas kleinere Portion, und fragte danach. Nein, Kinderportionen gäbe es nicht, und ob man ein Gericht verkleinern könnte, hingen vom Gericht ab. Ja, bei Gyros könne man das evtl machen. (Am Ende hatte ich dann aber doch das volle Gericht - jedenfalls den vollen Preis!) Auf das Essen mussten wir ewig warten. Die Kinder schoben Hunger und Langeweile. Als das Essen kam, war es leider nicht befriedigend. Die Pommes waren ok. Der Salat war allerdings weder knackig noch schmackhaft. Das Gyros sehr grob, geschmacklich in Ordnung, hat mir aber im Nachhinein Bauchschmerzen verursacht. Die Souvlaki waren dermaßen versalzen, dass wir sie zurückgehen ließen (was wir normalerweise schon aus ökologischen Gründen normalerweise nie tun - aber diese waren einfach ungenießbar!) Der Ersatz kam dann so verspätet, war dann offenbar gar nicht mehr gewürzt und total trocken. Immerhin mit Entschuldigung des Kochs. Die halb vollen Teller wurden kommentarlos abgeräumt - sowas muss doch eigentlich in der Küche auffallen! Über 70 € für so ein mieses Essen waren leider 70€ zuviel.

Pretty good food. The menu has a mix of Greek food as well as local cuisine. There are plenty of selections and they vary between €10 - €20 for an entree. I had a good experience with the staff. The waiter was attentive and fun. This is more of a social place than a formal/quiet setting, so expect to socialize with other customers and the staff.
