China Restaurant "Gnade" — Restaurant in Würzburg

One of the worst experiences at a restaurant and probably had the opportunity to meet the most impolite owner/server. Please don’t get me wrong, we enjoyed the food. But, I wish I could give a zero rating for the service.

I live in the US and have had many instances where we go to a restaurant as a group of 4 or 5, one or two of us is not hungry and will probably order for three and share. It was fine for everyone.

Here, we were a group of six at the restaurant for dinner. None of us were too hungry and decided to order for four and share our food.

The server was quite surprised that we only ordered for four. What happened next was astounding. She called out loud (what roughly translates to) “you only ordered for four, move to this table”. In other words, she decided to move us from the table where we were sitting to a smaller table because we only ordered for four. On top of that, the way she decided to call it out loud so everyone can hear (that we only ordered for four when we were a group of six) seemed like a ploy to make us feel embarrassed. We said nothing and simply moved to the new table we were assigned to.

My question to the owner/server is- why should we order more and waste food? Just so you have more business? Can you be more polite to...

Very authentic chinese cooking, highly recommend. Service / room could be better ( providing chopsticks, decoration is a bit weird ), but we re going at restaurant for the food ! First time since ages that I found here the chinese cooking taste I got in LA.

Edit of 03/08/2025. We went there again, table of 5 people, so we got the occasion to taste more stuff. Everything was great. Someone in our party lost the taste of things due to a medical condition, so it's hard for her to eat because everything is tasteless. Which was not the case in this restaurant ! So it was a double pleasure to see her eat with appetite.Thanks again for the tasteful cooking...

Wer in Würzburg auf der Suche nach authentischer chinesischer Küche ist, sollte sich das Restaurant Gnade auf keinen Fall entgehen lassen. Verkehrsgünstiger könnte die Lage kaum sein – das Lokal befindet sich direkt gegenüber dem Würzburger Hauptbahnhof und ist somit ideal erreichbar, egal ob man aus der Stadt kommt oder gerade erst angekommen ist.

Was besonders hervorsticht, ist die Qualität und Großzügigkeit der Portionen: Man wird hier nicht nur satt – man wird verwöhnt. Die Gerichte sind nicht nur geschmacklich hervorragend abgestimmt, sondern auch in ihrer Präsentation ansprechend und frisch zubereitet. Die typische Schärfe der Sichuan-Küche ist präsent, aber nie überfordernd – auf Wunsch wird sie individuell angepasst.

Auch der Service verdient ein besonderes Lob: Das Personal ist freundlich, aufmerksam und berät bei Fragen zur Speisekarte gern. Besonders positiv fällt auf, dass viele Gäste aus China hier einkehren – ein sicheres Zeichen für die Authentizität der Küche.

Fazit: Das Gnade ist weit mehr als ein Geheimtipp – es ist ein kulinarisches Highlight in Würzburg, das nicht nur Liebhaber chinesischer Küche begeistern wird. Wer echtes Sichuan-Flair erleben und sich mit großzügigen Portionen verwöhnen lassen möchte, ist hier genau richtig. Eine...
