Damas — Restaurant in Weimar

We had been here a year ago, I think shortly after they had opened up and we loved it. Nice staff and authentic middle east food, fresh and inexpensive. More recently we found it only mediocre, not so fresh, covering taste of maybe not so fresh vegetables with too much vinegar and spices and by drowning in sauces. This is real hidden gem in touristic historical centre. There are a lot of restaurants, but unfortunately a lot of them do not have very friendly staff. In Damas - very kind and smiling staff and enormous portions of food! Much better service than some other overpriced restaurants in centre....

Hinter der Herderkirche ist ein kleiner Multikultikiez entstanden mit orientalischem Barbier, Lebensmittelgeschäft und einfachem syrischem Restaurant. Die Küche zaubert sehr leckere Mezze, Hähnchenfleisch-Rolls mit arabischem Fladenbrot und Tellergerichte. Das Schawarma war sehr lecker (es fehlten leider nur diese rosafarbenen eingelegten Pickels). Ganz fantastisch war der Falaffel-Teller. Die Falaffel sehr fluffig und gut gewürzt, sehr leckeres Hummus, Gemüse- und Salatbeilage mit Summak bestreut. Dazu frische Pommes und Arabisches Fladenbrot. Das Restaurant ist einfach und ruhig, die Toilette altmodisch aber sehr sauber. Es gibt (natürlich) keinen Alkohol, leider wohl auch keinen Tee nach dem Essen.
