Alter Schwede — Restaurant in Wismar

Great restaurant in the center of Wismar. Very friendly staff. The starter was excellent and the soup was fantastic. As the main thief I recommend three kinds of fish served either on dry or with three sauces, I recommend here to dry. Everything is great, so you will be full of food after the meal, but I still love to have a dessert. Well, and that was great as both the pancake and the "whipped hill" were very dense and big, so I could not eat them all but it was worth it. For the whole dinner of one starter of two soups, two main courses, two starters and a few beers, I paid $ 90, which I think will quite go away. I can only recommend this restaurant for anything bad I did not find here, just during the day I recommend you sit outside because it is tough inside but otherwise...

Terrible! After waiting with children for one hour for the main course and kids dishes asking the the waitress for how much longer it will take we’ve been told that “it’s out fault we have to wait that long because we’ve ordered starters... “ when the main dish arrived the asparagus was overcooked , the fish was hardly differing from paper taste wise, the Matjes was defrosted (!) in a location less than 1km from the harbor! The waitress that served us was friendly - admitted that there are a lot of things to change, “but no one from the management would care”....

Very poor service. Unfriendly, abrupt and rude, even by local standards. We came in for a small meal and a drink, the place was almost empty, and we were told it was not possible to just have coffee, a starter or cake, or a beer despite it being 3pm.

The server could have simply said that they only offer full meals (funny, considering they advertised their cake, coffee and beer outside) but instead he very rudely dismissed us

FYI: nothing to do with the language, the whole interaction was in German.
