We visited Ilona today to have an intimate birthday dinner for 3 to celebrate our littlest sister's birthday and had such a great time in this space. Everything from the call to make our reservation right up until we left the restaurant was a seamless and beautiful experience.
The service was super, and we can't thank our waitress, Seraphine, enough.. she was so attentive and professional. She picked up from our conversation who the birthday girl was without being told or having to ask, and handled my request for a birthday note on our dessert together with a birthday song with such discretion and finesse, the results made our day. The host who took our reservation on the phone was also so kind and checked in again on us when we arrived. We felt very well taken care of and attended to.
We were served with a complimentary Watermelon and Feta Cheese to nibble while waiting for our orders. For drinks, we ordered a glass of White Wine and 2 Bar Man Specials (1 alcoholic and 1 non-alcoholic), all of which we really liked. We ordered the Tender Chicken Rosemary Strips for starters, and they tasted so good that we almost ordered seconds. For our mains, we got the Drunken Grouper with a side of coconut rice, the Chardonnay Chic(k), and the Black Peppered T-Bone, both with creamy mashed potatoes. We had absolutely no complaints about any of our choices. We did observe, however, that the steak came with 3 scoops of mashed potatoes while the chicken came with only 1, so do keep that in mind. Then we had the Cheesquake of Mini Delights for dessert, along with the complimentary birthday note, song, and fireworks candle. It was perfect.
The ambience is lovely.. colourful artwork, nice seating arrangements, soft lighting, and soothing music. The decor in the washroom is also tastefully done. During a quick meeting with over 10 staff, there wasn't so much noise as to disturb guests. There's lots of pretty spots to take pictures, and the staff will help you take some if you ask.
The general vibe is just calm, luxurious, and relaxing. This was our first time here, and we thoroughly enjoyed it.. truly can't...
Read moreAn Unforgettable Experience at ILona Restaurant!
I recently had the pleasure of celebrating a birthday for a party of 20 at ILona in Accra, and I cannot say enough good things about this incredible restaurant. From start to finish, the experience was nothing short of spectacular!
Let’s start with the wine selection—absolutely top-tier! The variety and quality of wines they offer are impressive, a perfect complement to the rich and flavorful dishes on the menu. The cheese bomb we ordered? It was explosive in all the right ways! A must-try for anyone who visits.
The atmosphere at ILona is warm and inviting, creating the perfect ambiance for any celebration. The staff went above and beyond to make the evening special, but what really stood out was the personalized service from the owners—the boy from Boston and his mother. Their exceptional hospitality made us feel like VIPs from the moment we stepped in.
Before the event, they were attentive and accommodating, ensuring every detail was just right. During the celebration, they were on hand to cater to our every need, ensuring that no request was too big or small. Even after the evening ended, the care and dedication to our experience remained impeccable.
The food? Absolutely phenomenal. The diversity of dishes on the menu is worth celebrating—there’s truly something for everyone. Every plate was a culinary delight, and the drinks were equally as impressive.
If you haven’t been to ILona yet, you’re truly missing out! This is one restaurant that’s not just worth a visit, but worth a repeat or two… or more! Highly, highly...
Read moreI came to check out the restaurant due to me staying nearby and being the first one of my group travel to arrive. I sat at the bar by myself and ordered the lamb sliders and a drink (I forgot the name but it’s basically a loaded Corona.) The sliders were plentiful seeing that I just wanted something small and a very friendly host/food runner even brought me a little plate with two pieces of bruschetta (small toast with diced tomatoes, mozzarella). My drink was good even through I just wanted a Star beer but they didn’t serve Star beer.(If it is because they want a more “upscale crowd “ they are missing the point of what people might want.
The bartenders and bar back were VERY friendly and engaging. I was also served and checked on by many of their front of house (host and Ghanaian manager) which made me feel like I was a valued costumer regardless of me being alone. The aesthetics were beautiful. Very modern from the tiling to the tables and chairs. They have a rooftop that displayed greenery and a large TV, almost transferring the space to mimic more of a garden placement. Overall I enjoyed my time. When it came to the check I was presently surprised by the amount of service fees there were (they were not large fees that made dent on the bill) but no gratuity which I am glad that I asked about so I could tip the house and my bartenders. I would 100% recommend this place and please don’t be afraid to sit at the bar by yourself I can say it made my first night out in...
