As a patron who appreciates good food, I recently visited Osteria Michelangelo in Accra, accompanied by two friends, one Italian and one Ghanaian. We were aware that Osteria Michelangelo wasn't a Michelin star establishment, but we held decent expectations for a pleasant dining experience, especially since my friends had dined here before and had found the food to be satisfactory.
Regrettably, our latest experience at Osteria Michelangelo was deeply disappointing. The food, which we anticipated to be at least decent based on previous visits, fell drastically short of acceptable standards.
Here are a few reasons why our experience was underwhelming:
Quality of Food: The dishes served lacked the basic quality one would expect from a restaurant that prides itself on its cuisine. The flavours were unbalanced, and the presentation was lackluster, indicating a disregard for culinary craftsmanship. Plantain served with Fritto Misto? Dry Microwaved Lasagna. Smoked Salmon served with Prosciutto? Not a single dessert option.
Over priced experiments gone wrong.
Consistency Issues: My friends, who had previously enjoyed their meals at this restaurant, noted a significant drop in the standard of food. It was evident that there was a lack of consistency in the quality of dishes served.
Our visit to Osteria Michelangelo was far from the positive experience we had hoped for. While we entered the restaurant with moderate expectations, the food served was unacceptable for various reasons. It pains me to say that, based on this experience, I cannot recommend Osteria Michelangelo to others seeking a satisfying culinary experience in Accra.
The owner was not present and this could be the reason why the standard of the overall experience was so below par.
The kitchen sincerely disappointed.
The server was the only pleasant part about the entire experience.

Read moreExtremely rude and possibly racist Owner/Host. I believe his name is Leo Corridi. He is Italian. I visit this restaurant only once a year with my wife on Valentine's day. In 2018, we thought he just had a bad day when we asked for "pink sauce" Spaghetti and was told off in the rudest possible way that "if you want something thats not on the menu, this isnt the place for you". On this day, the spaghetti turned out to be kind of hard, or you could say not cooked to perfection/ under cooked. On 14th Feb 2019, while already seated and served, (extremely slow service BTW) , I callled Leo as he passed by my table and he said he will be back. Only to realise he completely ignored us and rather sat idle on his little "office table" on the restaurant floor gazing at other guests. I called his attention as he passed the table again, but he ignored(you could argue that he "didnt hear this one", but still). Few minutes later, he seats a new table right next to us with people who appeared to be on his and very warmly welcomes them with the best service possible on earth! And still ignoring us! At this point I decided not to call him further as I had decided it was my last time visiting this restaurant. Oh! Not to forget the Chilli Sauce I had asked for and was completely forgotten about by the waitress until we reached the door and reminded her. In short, our thoughts are that the manager judges and treats customers based on their fame, as this restaurant is known to cater to people of such caliber, if you are a known person or a Ghanaian/dark skinned person with possible fame/authority, you may be treated well. But as any other skin colour, who he may judge to be not possibly as 'powerful' as the former, you will be given the rudest service possible. I strongly advice people not to patronise this...
Read moreApparently, they serve wine sent by the Gods otherwise they cannot explain the stellar price of a bottle. Food was ok, scares portions, the worst of all, hidden charges, at the end the bill had only a grand total, 1200GHS for two persons, for a bottle of wine and two plates of pasta, some bread. Very pushing, will not let you order from the menu, but will insist on their own suggestions, therefore the prices. Super empty on a Saturday evening, should have understood the reason why. He should rename the place to "Il Padrino " or " La Bella Mafia", Michelangelo was a sublime personality, ...
