How I wish I took photos of my night there. Somewhere Christmas 2019, I made new friends. And these guys, with their girlfriends, could party hard. We drove from Korlegorno to Osu (both in Coastal Accra) within 45mins. It was past 8pm, and the streets of coastal Accra all through James Town (Manky3 Agbonaa) was jamming but this guy, our driver drove us through so effortlessly. He, our driver, was tipsy and the adrenaline was super high. He poked his cd player and that's when I first heard Wanluv Kuborlor's song "My Toto" (Valentine Sex). The fun had just begun.
For once I thought we were heading to Labadi Beach Hotel because I suppose both are on the same street. I could hear the DJ, and I could see the crowd on the right side of the street, for we were driving in from Accra city towards Osu. Don't bother about parking space because the broad median of the high street had become a car park already when we got there, and the cars were top end. I idd not see any security so we were wise to keep our valuables deep in the trunk.
Just like a wild latenight cocktail party, there was everything there, Sheesha too. There is night food too. The crowd could go haywire with songs like "Thunderfire" and "Amount" from Shatta Wale and then "Kpo K3k3" and "Mane me" from Stonebuoy. People would leave their seats and dance in the small walk way so erratically. But it's a freezone so you should go with that one guy who will keep the seat until your dancing moves are tired. Else after the dance, you will have to stand around for a while.
So i was surprised how controlled and violence free the night was. And guys, rehearse your pick up lines because there are so many ladies here. You can virtually dance with anybody (only make sure her guy isn't macho). The only thing I dreaded was rain because the venue was an open space.
And don't worry about finding it. The real Purple Pub is at Osu in Accra. Just get to Osu, and...
Read moreThis place is for party animals. Just a great outdoor seating with good music that will surely take the edges off. The whole magic happens outdoor with setup tables and chairs everywhere. Usually Fridays, Saturdays, you might definitely not even get a place to seat. Not until several hours after fighting for chairs and tables here and there. If you want to come here and grab a drink with a friend or someone over a decent talk, you window is Tuesday through to Thursday. If you love the crowd, love the loud music, perhaps a party animal, check back on Fridays & Saturdays....
Read morePopular. Overcrowded. Loud. Practically self service on busy days (special occasions and holidays). I like the fact that it's outdoors but I dislike that no waiters or waitresses available to clear tables of used cups, empty bottles and cans, resulting in a messy environment. Customers clear their own tables (of bottles and cups) and place them right on the floor. Hard to take a step without kicking empty beer bottles. Potentially dangerous. Oh, and the choking smoke from nearby stalls that fry or roast different types of delicacies... a huge bother to endure just to have...
