Top Taste Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Accra

Absolutely awful. The servers were okay and doing their best. The Chinese ownership was abusive towards staff, literally screaming at and berating staff in front of a (awkward and embarrassingly sheepish) lunchtime crowd; even physically ripping things away from them and making threatening gestures. Her (perhaps two year-old) child was also screaming at and hitting staff members. (Hard to imagine where this behavior came from...). After awhile of this, and while she was still in the middle of her hissy fit, I got up an announced aloud that I had had enough and was walking out. On my way down the street, I was beseeched by a few tearful waiters to please pay the bill lest it be deducted from their salaries. I returned to the restaurant and explained that I do not pay to do anything in establishments where that kind of behavior is on display. Of course the cowardly owner had gone away to hide, leaving her staff with the collection threat and keeping herself from customer criticism: I was dying to ask her to act the same way with me as she had with her employees. Disgraceful, racist, and disgusting behavior that has no place in the modern world, let alone in today's Africa, where immigrant business owners are guests of the local community and should behave accordingly. For what it's worth, all of the dishes I ate before things got out of hand had significant issues. 0/100 Avoid...

Tip Top is one of my all-time favorite Chinese restaurants in Ghana, and even internationally. Their cuisine is genuine, the menu is diverse, and their portions match their prices. I am always full when I eat here and I can't wait to come back again to try something new. Their sweet and sour crispy pork is AMAZING, their rice dishes are gigantic, and their noodles are enough to share with others. They have delicious soups and their Chinese tea is perfect. Their dumplings are some of the best I've ever had and the quantity is excellent for the price. The ambiance is decent, nothing fancy but it's clean. Their washroom is not ideal. It's outside the restaurant and isn't always clean, but at least they have a facility. Now I'm hungry...

The food is good, but atmosphere and service were terrible and incommensurate with the high prices. We were ignored while people around us seemed to get special treatment. Food came out in a ridiculous order. we were hungry so ended up eating a lot of rice and bok choy while we waited for the more substantial dishes. Our 4 year-old was nearly asleep by the time the food came out. When he needed to use the washroom we were led to an outhouse down the ally. As it was occupied, the wait staff suggested my son pee in the alley. not what you expect when you pay $70 for a meal in Accra. I really enjoyed their food when ordering out once, but now I know their standards of hygiene...
