Kona is a trendy location in the middle of Oxfordstreet in Osu. It has two floors and is open air. From the top floor you have a good view over Oxfordstreet and its fascinating and busy nightlife. Definitely a must visit, especially if it's your first time visiting Accra.
The few times I've been there I found the music underwhelming and made it feel like the place is more of a "see and be seen" type of club instead of a more dancing focused crowd, but I am sure we caught low nights. The drinks are fine and you can eat there too. Shisha is also available but I don't use it, therefore I can't say much about it.
Be careful if wearing highheels, accessing the top floor is via very steep stairs and the washrooms are on the ground floor 😅
One thing I don't like is that at the direct entrance you have child beggars waiting on guests to either go in or come out of the club. As an owner or party promoter I would not tolerate this but I understand that it's maybe not in their control. However, I have not witnessed this in front of...

When I arrived he asked if I came alone and I told him I did. He looked slightly concerned and offered a waitress to look after me.
I drank too much (the cups are big y’all so one drink is basically 2! 😮💨) and he stopped some guy I had only briefly spoken to from trying to take me home. I don’t even remember agreeing to leave with the guy and clearly my judgment was compromised. 🤦🏽♀️
When the manager saw us walking out, he stopped us, made the guy leave, and then personally drove me to my place and made sure I got in safely. He was a complete gentleman and I can’t say thank you enough.
I don’t know that the other guy he stopped was a bad man or would have done anything to me. But I was in no position to judge for myself and I appreciate that the manager wasn’t willing to let me take that...

The level of service was very poor - numerous waitstaff idled around as if the restaurant was a private bedroom, and yet at the same time it was surprisingly difficult to have someone nearby when you needed something.
Our waitress seemed irritated that she had to leave her conversations with friends to attend to us. There were no tissues on any of the upstairs tables, so had to go downstairs to the bar for some. My order of grilled chicken and chips took over an hour, arrived cold, and was subpar.
Usually don't go out of my way to leave negative reviews, but there're so many opportunities for improvement...
