My brother, two sisters, nephew, nieces, and I visited Treehouse Restaurant & Bar for a late lunch. Here's a breakdown of what we ordered:
For Drinks: 1 glass of Rum Base 2 glasses of Apple Juice 2 glasses of Amber Honey 2 glasses of Triple Martini 1 Coke 1 Sprite
Their cocktails were quite good. I had the Amber Honey, which consists of honey syrup, lemon juice, cranberry juice, Inverroche amber, and orange. I loved it; it was the perfect blend of sweetness. I would rate it an 8/10. My brother had two glasses of the Triple Martini, made with vodka, passion fruit liqueur, and Prosecco, which I found a bit sour for my taste but which he enjoyed. My sister had the Rum Base, which includes rum, Malibu, passion fruit, coconut, lemon, pineapple, and mint. She rated it a 7/10.
For Starters: Prawns Tempura Spicy Chicken Skewers
The starters were excellent. The prawns tempura, paired with a garlic dip, were particularly notable. The dish was a hit with everyone at the table, leaving us wanting more. The spicy chicken skewers were also well-prepared and flavorful.
The Main Course: For the kids, we ordered a plate of fries and grilled chicken fillet to share. It was big enough for the three toddlers (all under five years old). The portion was generous, and the kids enjoyed it immensely, with no complaints.
For the adults: Three of us chose the Spicy Pork Belly with different sides. I had mine with mashed potatoes, which were creamy and delicious. The pork was tender, though it wasn’t as spicy as I would have liked. I would rate it a 7.5/10, though my siblings enjoyed it and didn’t mind the lack of spice.
My sister opted for the Slow Cooked Lamb Shank with rice. Unfortunately, she found the lamb lacking in tenderness and flavor compared to the pork belly. She rated it a 5/10, expressing some disappointment.
The Desserts: Chocolate Mousse Crème Brûlée Chocolate Fondant
The desserts were excellent. I had the Chocolate Fondant with Baileys moon, and it was delicious. I would rate it a solid 8/10. Unfortunately, I only took pictures of my own food and not of what everyone else had.
My Overall Impression: I would recommend Treehouse Restaurant & Bar to anyone looking to enjoy a satisfying lunch or dinner. The atmosphere is lovely, with both indoor and outdoor seating options. We chose to sit outdoors, which was a pleasant experience. The night we attended featured a live band, an event they host every Tuesday night, adding to the vibrant ambiance. The staff was very attentive, and overall, the food was good, especially the desserts, which was the...
Read moreThe ambiance of this restaurant is very nice. It has both indoor and outdoor seating, but the service was atrocious. Upon arriving, we were not told whether or not we had to wait to be seated or if we could seat ourselves, as multiple hostesses/waiters walked past us. We ended up seating ourselves. From there, we sat for at least 15 minutes before having to flag someone down to order. They then got us a waitress to take our order. Having sat there for so long, we knew what we wanted to eat and drink, so we placed both orders at the same time. About 25-30 minutes later, we got our food. We ordered the pork belly appetizer, sauteed prawns, and the grilled rib-eye beef. The pork belly arrived cold because as opposed to bringing it when it was ready, as it was an appetizer, they waited for the entire meal to be ready. The meal itself, other than the cold pork belly, was decent, not many complaints there. However, we sat there for over an hour between ordering and finishing our food and did not receive a single drink that was ordered. The drink order was 1 still water and 1 blueberry paloma. We checked with two different waiters/waitresses for our drinks and received nothing. Eventually we asked for the check (still waited over 15 minutes to receive that) and also spoke to who we believed to be a manager. As we were speaking with him, our drinks miraculously came out. However, at that point, we had both already finished our meals and were completely over the experience at the restaurant. Food, music and ambiance are decent, but you can definitely find the same quality food, music and ambiance with WAY better...
Read moreWe recently had the opportunity to visit a restaurant in Accra based on a recommendation from a friend, and while the experience had its highlights, it also left us with mixed feelings. The ambiance was pleasant, and the staff were courteous and attentive, which made for a comfortable dining environment. The menu featured a variety of dishes, with a strong emphasis on American-style cuisine—burgers, ribs, fries, and other staples that cater to those craving a taste of the U.S. culinary scene.
The food itself was undeniably good. Each dish was well-prepared, flavorful, and presented with care. However, we couldn’t help but feel that the prices were a bit steep for what was offered. While the quality was solid, it didn’t quite justify the cost, especially when compared to other dining options available in Accra.
If you’re specifically looking to indulge in American-style meals and don’t mind paying a premium, this spot might be worth checking out. It certainly delivers on taste and familiarity. However, for those eager to explore the rich and diverse flavors of Ghanaian cuisine, there are countless local restaurants that offer exceptional dishes at more reasonable prices. Places serving waakye, banku, fufu, and grilled tilapia provide a more authentic and budget-friendly culinary experience.
That said, we did enjoy our meal and appreciated the recommendation. It’s a good option for a change of pace, but not necessarily a must-visit unless you’re craving something...
