Elia Kafenes — Restaurant in Antiparos Municipality

While staying on the island of Antiparos for several months, we’ve finally been able to try some of the eateries as they open and prepare for the upcoming season. This review is not to speak ill of several we just tried this month (April 2022) but rather to point out that basically the only place that is capable of producing good food is Elia Café. They clearly have some talent in the kitchen and whoever put together the menu understands what people in today’s world like to eat. The young lady who serves here (I believe her name is Marina) is just excellent!

I am truly amazed about the reviews I read online about a number of places that actually pretend to be a Cafe or Restaurant. Earlier this week we went to one on main street that had just re-opened and the owner even proudly explained that he used chicken legs for the souvlaki. It was non-marinated, over-salted horrible pieces of chicken on a stick. Not to brag, but both my wife and I have been in the food business for a very long time, and by the way, my wife is Greek. This place, in addition to their horrible food and matching service, charges 50 cents for bread (which we did not even order) and 1 euro when you use your credit card. AVOID THIS PLACE!!! IT IS DANGEROUS My wife found a piece of wire in our food (from cleaning sponge) and when the plate was replaced we found human hair in the new plate! We reported to the authorities and posted here and in Google. The owner instead of apologizing had the nerve to insult us by saying that we wanted yo eat for free. my wife also wrote a second review as a reply which he blocked! He has lied to Google to hide the story…(Luckily all authorities have been notified). Today we decided to write another review hereThis man is dangerous disrespectful and rude snd should not be allowed to serve people food! I found a 1cm hard sponge metallic wire in my food.. lucky I didn’t swallow it….they were ironic and rude… we asked for a replacement and found a hair in the omelette! (Not to mention the disgusting avocado spread) I do not recommend this place for hygiene reasons! Imagine you or your kid swallowing the wire and having to go to the hospital! We reported it to the hygiene office in Greece .
