Horrible service! It’s a shame since the food was decent and atmosphere was nice enough but the waitstaff was terrible. We had to keep reminding them of a drink order that was missed and asked 3 different people about the cocktail. We ordered water for the table, but when there wasn’t enough water for all seven of us with one big bottle of water, they just stopped serving water to the rest of our party and we had to ask for another bottle. We ordered 2 whole fish and they were presented at the table when cooked but taken away to be filleted. We could see the person who was supposed to fillet our fish chatting with someone for at least 5 minutes while our fish sat on the table waiting to be deboned and served. We were concerned that the fish wouldn’t be wam anymore by the time it got to our table and it was barely warm.
We ordered white wine and asked for it to be kept chilled. They poured the wine for one person while the other the others were finishing their cocktails but no one came back to pour the wine for the rest of the evening so we got up to retrieve the bottle and pour it ourselves.
They also charged more for one dish so I brought it to their attention and the response was “We changed the price”. I insisted on them honoring the price on the menu and they corrected the total.
Our waitress was so standoffish and would only speak to one male member of our party, especially when it was time to pay the check. Even though she saw me hand over my credit card and sign on the card reader, she still asked the male member of our party if he wanted a receipt.
They were not short staffed and there were plenty of bodies but none of them were there to provide acceptable service. This is simply unacceptable especially when the price for dinner is...

The restaurant is located off the main road for souls searching for a quiet dinner (albeit with music in the backround). That being said, it's very easy to get to. In other words, it's in the sweet spot of accessibility and solitude.
As for the atmosphere, it's impeccable. In the middle of the restaurant lies an olive tree of small size, which adds to the aesthetic of the restaurant. Moving on, the restaurant has white walls, (as most buildings in the island do) and is surrounded by white fences in half of its perimeter. To me, the colour white is the colour of tranquility, and I'm fairly certain that everyone enjoys it too. Lastly, inside the building along the fences lies a small rectangular garden (of sorts) with all kinds of plants that are illuminated by small lights below them. Personally my allergies weren't affected by the odor, but if the reader is allergic to lots of things they might want to keep to the other half of the restaurant.
To me, the atmosphere was absolutely splendid.
As for the food....
I cannot recommend it enough. It was great and worthy of the name Vassilenas that is carried since 1920. In fact, two starters I would urge anyone to get are:
The Grilled Squid
The Greek Salad
As for the main courses, what I got was the Sirloin steak, and I throughly enjoyed it. The potatoes, the sauce and the steak were all picture perfect! Another main course my friend got was the Orzo pasta, and according to him, it was amazing.
So, for all of the above reasons I listed I'd urge anyone searching for a great dinner at Antiparos to look no further than...
Read moreI am reviewing Vassilenas in comparison to other restaurants in their same category and price point. With that being said, this place was a let down and unfortunately overly pretentious for no reason. We had high expectations and were disappointed, there are much better restaurants on antiparos at this price point that will give a more enjoyable (and delicious) dining experience. First, the location is off the main road and it's not very pretty. The courtyard itself is charming but again, there are much prettier restaurants with better views. On to the food: they are known for their Taramosalàta, and maybe it's an acquired taste but I did not find this to be very appetizing. They also told me they blend bread (not gluten free) into their fish roe dip so please be aware. The texture is smooth and creamy but the taste is just ok. Also not loving that bread is blended into this. Greek salad was forgettable. We both ordered fish for our mains. I had their fresh catch and my husband had the tuna steak. But items were drowning in sauces that overpowered the seafood. They were decent but nothing special. I will say their star dish is their fish soup. This soup was mouth watering delicious, making you want more. The flavor is bold and deep. I wouldn't return to this restaurant for anything else, but I will miss this soup Service: cold and non existent except for bringing your...
