After four visits to Aigli within a single month, a clear pattern of poor service has emerged, shattering the fond memories of childhood visits and making it impossible to recommend. The most consistent issue is the remarkably slow service. Waiters are consistently delayed in responding to requests, and the food or coffee, arrives after excessive wait times.
Furthermore, the issue of receipts is a recurring annoyance. On each of my visits, I've had to explicitly request a receipt after paying, as it is never provided automatically with the change or after card payment. This repeated oversight, suggests a lack of attention to basic customer service-to say the least.
One particularly frustrating incident occurred during a cold winter day. The only source of heat near our table in the outer part of the restaurant, a portable burner (there are a few but not for every table), was removed (without been asked!) and relocated to another table upon their request, leaving us uncomfortably cold.
While the food quality is not the main issue here, the consistently poor service and lack of basic courtesy, make for a deeply disappointing dining experience for a place we were visiting ever since our childhood. Therefore, I cannot recommend this establishment. The once cherished memories have been tarnished by a consistent failure to deliver even...
Read moreWe were really excited to visit Aigli after so many years that it was closed. They achieved to disapoint us from the first minute we arrived. The service is really terrible although the restaurant is operating more than a month. The hostess told us that they were full and we had to wait but we immediately suggest heran empty table that was not reserved. We sat on the table and noboday came to offer us water or a menu for more than 20mins. The hostess was really rude to us and she behaved in a really unprofessional way. However the really "disaster" was the food as most of the main courses were burnt and all of them were mediocre. The prices were really high compare the quality of the food. The exterior was pretty nice but the interior was also a disappointment because the selection of the furniture didn't meet the expectations for a historic & classy restaurant as Aigli but it looked more like an apple store. Only one waiter was really polite and professional to us. I will go there again as the location is next to the national garden but only for a...
Read moreIt’s probably hard to find worse place than this in Athens. Everything was disappointing starting from hostess at the entrance who makes you feel unwelcome to the quality of food. No one cracks a smile, the service is slow, no one pays any attention to you. I never understood why you have to be served only by the same waiter while others wonder around. Such inefficient way of running business. The food is so bad. Orange juice for 7 euros?!! That’s insane. And I really doubt it was fresh, it tasted like it has some carbonate in it so probably came from a bottle. Avoid this please. There are so many nicer places in Athens with amazing food,...
