Man, as good as the reviews were, this was pretty disappointing in terms of restaurant quality Indian food.
First of all, while they have paneer (cheese) on their menu, they told us that they were out of paneer (this was at around 5pm on a weekday, and they close at midnight).
We ended up getting their mixed platter appetizer. This appetizer has 2 samosas (potato puffs), fried paneer (this must’ve been premade since they were out of paneer), and some fried potato and onion bites. This appetizer was bad. The samosas had absolutely no spices or flavor for the filling, just a bland potato taste. The cheese was old and hard. And the other items again had no flavor. What’s worse is that this restaurant didn’t have any tamarind chutney (a sweet dipping sauce) that is extremely common and almost required to eat these with.
We then got a few entrees - a chicken tikka masala, a bhindhi masala (okra), and a dal makhani (lentils). The chicken and okra dishes are what brings this review up to a 3. These were actually pretty good and I would come here to just get those. The chicken curry was nicely spiced and had a very flavorful and thick sauce. The okra dish had nicely shallow fried okra that was not slimy at all. The dal makhani was just ok but had no flavor.
We also grabbed some rice and a variety of naan. The naan is terrible. This was so crunchy that it was useless to eat it with food. Usually this bread should be very soft, along you to scoop up curries in it to eat. This was just not that. The garlic naan was not fresh and did not have any strong garlic flavor to it. The chili naan doesn’t actually have any spiciness to it. They just use green and red bell peppers!
Now, one great thing about here is that prices are all very reasonable for US standards. However if I had the option to eat here compared to other places we went to on this trip, I would not personally...
Read moreme and my husband stayed at Grand Hyatt hotel. this restaurant has a very strategic location to attract customers. but when we arrived, we saw no customer at all (my husband insisted to try). we ordered salad as starter but looks like the oil that chef used was quite dark after many time of use. the salad was actually fritters salad and looks like burnt (bcs of the oil). after that I saw a little cockroach on the wall beside my husband. i asked the waiter to take the cockroach (i saw a review mentioned about it, so, i wasn’t surprise at all). main course I ordered chicken masala and my husband ordered korma chicken (which i believe there is no korma inside the bowl) and rice. the taste was good but compared to the amount of food and the price, it was extremely expensive. we spent 42,50€ for only 3 dishes and 1 small rice. from there we went to pizza restaurant to full our stomach. the pizza was worth the money more than this Indian restaurant. my last verdict, dont try this restaurant. ever. im wondering how this restaurant can survive without customer. i usually take pictures but...
