Souvlaki Athinaiko — Restaurant in Athens

My daughters one request upon visiting Greece was to eat chicken souvlaki. At the suggestion of our Airbnb host, we tried Souvlaki Athinalko and were not disappointed.

My daughters’ ordered the chicken souvlaki in a pita and they both said it was the best they ever had. They said the sauce they used was amazing.

My son, who is a very picky eater had a Caesar salad and a ‘beef kabob patty’ We were surprised to hear him say it was the best Caesar salad he ever had and gobbled his huge serving of his pita kabob which is also rare.

My husband and I split a Greek salad and a dinner for two. The Greek salad had a two massive pieces of feta.. an absolute delight. It was very flavourful and a very generous portion. Now the platter for 2 could have fed my family of 5. There was a wide variety of meats like chicken, sausage, gyro meat, pork, pita, sauces, French fries, tomato, onion and more all for 20€. We barely put a dent in it so we took it home.

On top of that, we had great service. The waitress, I wish I caught her name, was friendly and offered us advice on foods to choose.

Overall a great experience, great food and very good price! We would definitely recommend this restaurant. I will include Souvlaki Athinalko in my Airbnb review for great places to eat for future guests. Kathleen, Todd...

My wife and I stumbled on this place earlier today, while out and about near our Airbnb. The service was great from the first interaction we had, to the minute we left. The prices are also very attractive for what you are getting. We ordered the chicken and pork gyros on a tortilla. They offer pita and sandwich options too. The tortilla was a smashing hit, a little less filling which is nice. The chicken was cooked to perfection. Juicy, but also had amazing crispy burnt bits and was exceptionally seasoned. The pork was also delicious, but in our humble opinion the chicken was the star. We opted to have the chicken gyros with the tzatziki sauce, and wow! I could live off that stuff. Creamy, tart, and delicious!

Stopped by a twice for supper and also once for lunch over a few day visit to Athens. Super close to the Intercontinental Hotel, great prices and the most delicious food. Had both the chicken and pork gyro plates and a chicken gyro wrap and was never disappointed. The portions are large enough to fill the average mid twenties male. The fries cool off really quick, so don’t let them sit too long. They’re average thick cut fries, but dip them in the tzatziki and chef’s kiss
