After the disappointment of arriving to the Delphi ruins just to find them closed (without any explanation - but the museum was EXCELLENT), we were driving to Athens when we crossed Arachova and figured that we should have something to eat. I had seen this place before on Google, and was curious about it and its view. We parked (easy to find parking on the street) and went in to an almost empty place, except for who we later learned was the owner and his family. It was very early, that explains why it was almost empty. The owner greeted us with the most excellent Greek hospitality that I miss already, and he asked us to pick wherever we wanted to sit, so we obviously sat on the terrace with the view of the mountains and the clock tower. Just that view is worth the visit! But the food is VERY delicious, and, as I've been hinting at, the service is even better. If you plan a visit to Delphi, do NOT forget to plan to visit this Tavern on your way out.

We had an amazing time at Taverna Gefyra. The place was beautifully decorated and had amazing views. It's definitely great for a date night or even family gatherings as it is cozy and warm. We started off with a greek salad, potato balls and the fresh fries with cheese. The potato balls are made using herbs that are locally sourced and the cheese is also made locally (probably the best feta cheese I've had in a while!). We then had the special veal steak and the veal fillet with mushroom and cream. They were both amazing and left us both very full and content. We also tried the tsipouro which was great and also locally made. The service was excellent and the staff was very attentive and gave us recommendations as well. Overall, a fantastic experience at Taverna Gefyra. Will definitely be coming back next time I'm in Arachova.

We were tricked by all the good reviews. Just went to this "restaurant" for lunch/dinner. We ordered greek salad, pork souvlaki and local pasta with veal and cheese and house wine for drinks. Greek salad was ok, but cucumber had a strange texture like it was frozen before; pasta was fully cooked (not al dente) had 1 tiny piece of meat, a little cheese on the top, but at least it was edible; unfortunately my husband wasn't that lucky, because he couldn't finish his meal - the meat was dry and taugh, fries were soggy, no sauce, just a slice of dry lemon. Waitress didn't bothered to ask if we liked our meal, so we payed for this terrible food in full just to get outside and forget this place as a terrible dream. The views are beautiful.

A FUIR !

Overpriced, most items missing and no receipt. When you see this place on the road continue to drive. We (a party of 4) arrived shortly after 3 PM. We sat down for 10 minutes reviewing the menu. At the time we agreed to order we found out that the items we were going to order were out: moussaka, eggplant, chicken soup. The owner gave us another 4 items that were missing. We settled for 3 Greek salads, melted cheese salad, fries, tzatziki, 1.5 liter of water and bread. We ran out of bread and ordered more which never came. The first interaction after being served with the owner was him asking: ready to pay? Our answer was an anonymous YES! He did not hand us a bill but said 40 Euros. We paid and left. No receipt of payment was provided. Is that even legal in Greece? We have been to 100s of restaurants all over Greece and have been met with great hospitality, service and exceptional food. This was a very...
