Review for Tasty Gyros & Grill 1988 – Nidri:

We visited this restaurant expecting a tasty meal, but the overall experience was very disappointing.

I ordered a portion of gyros – the meat tasted bad, and I found two hard pieces in it, along with a black hair (likely from an arm or chest). The hygiene and food quality were a big letdown. My wife had the same dish and enjoyed it, so perhaps it depends on the portion you get.

The seating is extremely cramped – guests sit so close together that you can practically see into each other's plates and mouths. There's no privacy and the atmosphere is uncomfortable.

The worst part was when a family with children sat next to us, and the woman immediately lit a cigarette while everyone around was eating. My wife politely asked her not to smoke during the meal, as it was inappropriate and disturbing to others. She completely ignored the request – and the staff even brought her an ashtray instead of addressing the issue.

Unfortunately, this restaurant allows smoking directly among dining guests, which in 2025 feels unacceptable.

One more thing – we paid by card, and without any notice, they automatically added a 5% charge to the bill. This was not a voluntary tip, and we had no intention of leaving one. I consider this approach dishonest.

And if the owner responds to this review in the same offensive tone he uses with others – let me just say: Only an intelligent person can insult me. And unfortunately, you are not one of them.

We walked in and chose our seat. The waiter rudely told us to choose another seat after my mother asked very nicely if she can have the outdoor seat with more air since we wanted more of a breeze due to the heat from the kitchen. Second they bring us our entrees and they bring us no plates to eat our food. Third my mother specifically asked for souvlaki pork and when the lady brought her food it was chicken and after my mother mentioned the order was wrong the lady snapped back and said she doesn’t get orders wrong so it must be our fault. We understand mistakes like this happen but all through the night it was just constant attitude from the staff. I recently got a mixed pita gyros for takeaway from this delightful Greek restaurant in Nidri. I must say, it was the best gyros I've had in the entire area. The meat was incredibly fresh and flavorful, setting it apart from other places I've tried. The tomatoes were particularly tasty, adding a burst of flavor that complemented the dish perfectly. Unlike other places, this gyros wasn't overly salty, which I appreciated. They even provided bags of salt on the side, so you can season to your preference.

The staff were all very polite and welcoming. A special mention to the waiter, who greeted me in Serbian with "here you go," adding a personal touch to the excellent service.
