This restaurant should have a Michelin star, if not many. It is the best Greek food I have had in my life. And trust me, I ate in many places across Greece. From the Ionian islands to Athens and Thessaloniki.
Everything is out of this world good and the two older people that are serving and cooking, they do it with an open heart and love.
I cried. I literally cried eating Souvlaki, Tyrokafteri and their Greek Salad. I felt like in my childhood with my nana and papa.
You feel the passion they put in everything they do.
Don’t worry about the language barrier and just use ChatGPT or Google translate if you get lost in it. Yes, you can pay with card, plenty parking spaces in the street, even on Saturday nights.
God bless their soul and may they live long and prosper in their amazing tavern that they are running.
Thank you so much for this experience. Is one of the experiences that will forever stay in my heart and my soul. Your food touched...
Read moreFinding the true gems can be challenging when visiting more touristic spots in Greece where there are so many different restaurants of varying quality. Being half-Greek and having travelled Greece for 1.5 months - I can safely say that this was the BEST restaurant I encountered in all of my travels. The place is run by a lovely couple who don't speak much English, but with a combination of my broken Greek and some German we managed to communicate. The prices are ridicously good considering the portion sizes and the quality of the food is mind boggling.
The first night I visited I had the keftedes - which might be the best thing I've ever tasted. The second night I had the moussaka - which also was amazing. You can just tell that this place puts all their love into their authentic, home-cooked food and you truly feel like a guest in their home. Do yourself a favor and visit this place when in Kalambaka - I still dream about the food...
Read moreFantastic homemade, authentic greek meal! The bread and fried feta cheese, as appetizers, tasted good. Our main dish was the olive oiled-simmered chicken, zucchini, and potatoes, and that was very tasty as well. I recommend that dish if you’re not sure where to start.
The main cook (see photo, left) greeted us at the front door and was very friendly till the end. She made us feel very welcomed! She doesn’t speak a word of english, but we were still able to get by with hand gestures, pictures, and a little bit of German.
DO NOT come here if you’re expecting fast service or elaborate cooking. Seems like just 1 or 2 people running the place, and the cooking is just like Mom’s style. Be understanding about that.
Overall, good food and warm hospitality, and reasonable prices…definitely recommended at least once in case you’re looking for more local...
