Platanos Tavern — Restaurant in Meteora Municipality

We arrived at a hotel several miles away from this restaurant and after reading the reviews, we decided to head here for dinner. We were on a trip from the States and my wife and I enjoyed a dinner here with another couple we met while traveling. Our server, Tomas, was absolutely fantastic! We ordered some wine and reviewed the menu and listened to Tomas's suggestions. Three of us decided on Tomas's recommendation of Pastitsio (Mom's homemade) and a beef dinner as we had the last of the Pastitsio. The wine, the Greek Salads, and our meals were delicious! Tomas was so on the ball as for service, professionalism and being fun. We even received some special dessert that was out of this world. A great location off the main road with plenty of seats and great service and food. I only wish we stayed another night to enjoy more of the Greek cuisine from this restaurant! A true gem of a taverna! We had a wonderful meal at Platanos Tavern, where everything felt authentically Greek and thoughtfully prepared. The grilled mushrooms were local and absolutely delicious, bursting with earthy flavor. The grilled cheese with sweet and sour cherry sauce was to die for—a perfect blend of savory and tangy. The chicken in lemon sauce was a simple dish, but executed beautifully, and the Cretan salad was fresh, vibrant, and satisfying. My son couldn’t get enough of the grilled liver entrée—tender and full of flavor. The staff was warm and welcoming, and the whole experience was made even better by the lovely, relaxed atmosphere. A great find as the place we intended to go was closed on the Wednesday night & we ended up here. Fantastic friendly service, very tasty home made food at a reasonable price... we got the last table at nearly 10pm. The house white wine was extremely good..... so good that we went back on Thursday at 8pm, something we seldom do. We even managed to purchase some wine to take away. Extremely popular with the locals & somewhere we most definately will return to....car park opposite for those non walkers! Highly...
