Unprofessional condescending manager! All other staff pragmatic and professional. Ordered a simple iced latte for take away due to leave Elouda shortly. To no fault at this premise the card system went down. Staff acknowledged that this is obviously not my fault but that they try to fix it. I didn’t have cash of me as I used it all up at a prior premise. Here comes a very agitated manager around 50 running around like a maniac saying it would take a minute to sort out. It clearly didn’t work out but he seemed to rely on the EUR4. He lectured me that one should always have cash in Greece. Well, over the past 5 years I hardly ever had cash on me and never had any issues. The audacity to blame me now was outrageous. I mentioned Im in a rush as my wife and toddler are waiting in the heat and I can’t reach them to say why it takes so long. He said I should walk to them call them inside then! Or take a walk in the heat to a cash machine and come back. Had only Apple Pay though. Another customer paid in cash meanwhile and he shouted out at least someone with cash in his pockets! Other staff were more sympathetic and even provided water and said that leaving me waiting for EUR4 that long wasn’t appropriate. Eventually the guy said Im ok to leave but bring the cash around another day. I was leaving the premises when he shouted to me the machine works! Eureka. He made me walk all the way back to him to take the payment. Overall it took 20mins to pay for a EUR4 iced latte…what an ordeal. A crying toddler in tow who was getting dehydrated from all the waiting...
Read moreThe food is average for the area. We stopped there because the main restaurants open around 6pm. The calamari was decent while the octopus I wouldn’t recommend. Maria’s Tarverna in the next town Plaka, has an AMAZING octopus. For drinks they are probably better based on reviews but for food I give 3 stars.
I dropped one star to 2 stars because of a billing problem. They converted my bill to USD without asking and the manager tells me he does not know how to do a refund on the machine and if I know how I can do it myself. Do I work there? The waitress we had was pleasant enough but it looked like she didn’t want to be there - like it was a punishment. The manager then tells me 100% its not going to be charged in dollars but in euros, even though it clearly says on the receipt the USD amount as well as fx rate and markup. I’ve been all around the world and know how it work. Why tell someone you are 100% sure when you have no idea how it works or even how to do a refund. He said I can call my bank to check. In the end, it’s small money and wasn’t worth discussing further.
Sure enough the charge is in USD just like I said. This restaurant is the only charge out of several restaurants visited every day for a long vacation. The only restaurant and only manager who seems to have no clue about how credit card...
Read moreUsed to visit this restaurant every year. This year on our first visit both ate the Greek omelette, later within ten minutes of each other suffered food poisoning. Gave them the benefit of the doubt as maybe the eggs. We both had different meals my chicken fillet hammered flat and absolutely smothered in oregano. After one bite had a rancid taste and overwhelming taste of the herby spice and so chewy. My wife had stifado with four tiny bits of meat. I left the whole meal my wife ate half of hers and guess what several hours later she suffered food poisoning again. Didn’t have any problems from any other restaurants. The chef did offer to cook a new meal but he looked dirty in his sweaty Blue t’shirt and realised that’s how he treats his cooking. I refused to pay for my meal and the chef threatened to call the police in a loud voice, publicly humiliating me as well. There are many restaurants in Elounda...
