What we liked:||+ It was a comfortable and not expensive accommodation||+ Our studio-room was clean, spacious and very nice, with everything we needed: air-conditioner (free of charge) and an overhead fan, many sockets, TV, safe, Wi-Fi, hair dryer, 3 towels per guest, enough light (natural and electric), but there were shutters and awning over the balcony for the sun||+ Very good equipped kitchenette: microwave, electric stove, toaster, kettle, drip coffee maker, sandwich toaster, eating and cooking utensils, paper towels, a full bottle of detergent and a new dish sponge (in an economy apartment!)||+ There was also a portion of soap, shower gel, hair cap and slippers in two sizes – everything is like in a 4* hotel!||+ The hostess also cares about the health of her guests: in our room we found a set of colour masks, disinfectants for hands and for the table||+ Our room was decorated in the same style of floral theme – pictures and plates on the walls, curtains, decorative pillows and even furniture handles. So nice, it wasn’t a faceless standard apartment!||+ Check-out time is about 11:30 – very comfortable!||+ Good situation of the hotel: 2 minutes walk to a cafe and a mini-supermarket, 5 minutes to Elounda beach, of course, this is not the best beach in Crete, but there are no waves here||+ Hostess Popi also lives there, so the reception is almost 24/7; we arrived at night and Popi waited for us even with a mini-dinner (for free!), because the restaurants and shops were already closed. She prepared cheese and spinach pies, chocolate, honey with yogurt, crackers, juice and water. Incredible hospitality!||+ Popi also kept a place in a public parking for us (sometimes it can be full)||+ And before our departure Popi gave us a fantastic present – a bottle of grappa and a bottle of olive oil, all in safe packaging for a long flight||+ There we felt not in as a hotel, but as at home of our dear aunt, thanks to Popi!||||What we didn’t like:||- It was the smallest shower in our live (probably 70x70 cm) - even for a very thin person it was inconvenient to use; the curtain closed the shower and the toilet (photo!), so the toilet was always wet, but the floor in the bathroom was also flooded; the window opened right into the shower to make it even smaller and from the balcony opposite we could be seen naked, and also there wern’t enough hooks for 3 towels per guest ||- One morning there wasn’t hot water, which can be a problem for lovers of the morning shower||- Unsafe old sockets in our room, some of them sparked||- The pillows were uncomfortable for our taste, too thin||- There was no drying rack for swimwear||- Our balcony overlooked the common courtyard sometimes noisy in the evening (although it wasn’t a problem for 3 days), in general all street sounds were heard in the room but the hotel is situated in a quiet place, so there wasn’t a lot traffic noise||- Cleaning service 2 times a week (this may be a problem for somebody, but it was ok for us)||- The wardrobe was small and not very comfortable to use, perhaps you will need better wardrobe for a longer stay||- First time it’s difficult to find the hotel using the navigator, you need to ask the hostess in advance for...
Read moreThis complex of eight or ten apartments is located in th center of Elounda, very close to the church, all the finest cafes and restaurants, four or five supermarkets, the port with boats going to Spinalonga, and most importantly, the splendid sandy central beach. Your walk to the beach will last 3 minutes, but if you want to reach its better and more distant part to avoid stones at the water's edge, you will have to walk another 50 or 60 meters.||Initially my wife and I stayed in apartment No. 6, but after four days we were moved to apartment No. 10 in a newer building, because of some administrative issue, so we could compare at least these two. They were both very similar, consisting of a fully equipped kitchen with all the facilities (electric stove top, micro oven, toasters, fridge, dishes, pots and pans, cutlery, etc) as well as a nice dining table + chairs, a bedroom with double bed, closet and dresser, and a bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. The double bed is good but sticks to one corner in the room, so the person lying by the wall has a hard time getting up without disturbing his or her partner. The shower in apt. 6 was large and comfortable, while the sink and toilet are somewhat crowded, whereas in apt 10 the sink and toilet are larger and better, but the shower is so narrow that using it became a nightmare. TV is Greek only and the AC is excellent. All said, we enjoyed staying at Palemilos, both because of the fantastic and quiet location, as well as all the facilities included and the relatively low price.||But what makes this place really extraordinary is Popi the landlady and owner. Popi is a retired English teacher and a very, very special lady, friendly, helpful and useful to a degree that is unsurpassable. She manages and directs the complex with the help of two younger maids who keep everything clean and in exemplary order. From the hearty beginning, Popi told us that we can turn to her with any question or problem. One such problem occurred when we found that our mobile phone disappeared; we contacted Popi from another phone and although she was with her husband in a village some 30 Km away, she immediately drove back, along with hubby, to help us looking for the lost item. We emptied the safety deposit box and turned everything upside down but the mobile was apparently lost. Then Popi went back to the safe, put her hand inside and found the mobile, which somehow got stuck to the dark unlit side wall. She also explained to us many things about Crete and Greece in general. Finally, she provided cakes, fruits and even a few bottles of home-made raki and olive oil as gifts...
Read moreAmazing place in paradise!||I have been to Crete 5 times to different areas of this island. Elunda sure is one of my favorite! I could totally relax from all the stress I had got at work & recover from the emotional breakdown. ||Palemilos apartments was a great decision. Let me summarize the main advantages:|1. The location: is excellent. It's the calm place in the center that gives you a lot of opportunities - beaches, car rents, shops, bus stops, church....|2. The apartments themselves: are excellent and absolutely unique. If you have a good taste of things and could feel design, you will appreciate the style of the place. English country house design , which requires the elements of high quality, hand-made elements, special colors and mood! Everything is here. And forget about IKEA-plates !|3. Should be Number 1 actually - Madame Poppy! The Lady of the house. We called her "Madame" (starting with big letter always). She is phenomenal and will make your stay unforgettable. Very beautiful and lovely lady!|4. A big red cat Billy - no comments here, photo is provided. It's a mascot of this place. Looking forward to next September to be back to this place. God blesses.||Take your chance ||I will be the first who books it for the next year ||YULIA@Larisa |From...
