We've been customers of this beach venue for many years and have supported them since they opened. Sometimes visiting with big groups of friends or family, we would typically spend the day there and engage in significant consumptions leading to considerable bills, as the menu is already pricey by Greek standards. This place is advertised as a kids friendly place, and has also put a lot of effort in promoting the business for local (Corfiot) people. Our last experience was extremely negative and disappointing, and would honestly not wish this to anyone, let alone recommend the place to any tourist or local person. Our group of friends and children (in total 11 people) had booked sunbeds in the morning and lunch for the afternoon, while we had already paid for the sunbeds. To begin with, you cannot just show up and sit on a sunbed, you have to prebook it. Later on, we were informed that you cannot book on the phone or simply pop in and check if there's availability, you have to make a reservation online so that the price is paid in full. Moreover, in case you are late for any reason, the sunbeds are released and - of course - you are not given any refund (ps.: sunbeds cost 20 euros/ per person). After we made our booking online and paid for the amount, we arrived at the place and enjoyed our time by the beach. When it was time for lunch, a few people from our group decided to have a swim in the pool, where we had swam several times in the past. Just to clarify that there is absolutely no signs regarding use of pool or any type of policy or restriction; on the contrary, when we visited this venue we always used the pool alongside a drink, coffee or a meal. This time, to our big surprise, moments after a little child of 5 years old from our group had come along with us in the pool, a member of staff appeared and informed us in a rude and unprofessional manner that the pool is only for adults' use, and that no children are allowed there. We respected the businesses policy, and accepted that the child would have to be removed, moments after poor little guy had set foot in the pool. Naturally and completely understandably, his mother tried not to disappoint the little toddler and to avoid a tantrum around a busy pool area, she was tying to gently explain the situation to her little one. This literally took 1 minute, however apparently this was too long for them, as a second employee arrived to our great surprise and this time informed us that supposedly we were not allowed to use the pool not because of the child but because we hadn't booked sunbeds!! As we were getting confused, we politely explained that we had already reserved sunbeds by the beach, and also a large dining table for lunch. SURPRISE ! This apparently was not enough revenue for the business, so the manager arrives as well, and starts telling us off in a completely arrogant and disrespectful manner because we were taking too long (aka 1-2 minutes) to leave the pool!! When we replied that we did't see any signs at all about the use of pool or any restrictions, they said in an extremely snobbish attitude that we should have read their policy on their website prior to visiting their venue!! HA HA HA ! What a joke!! As is easily understandable, the money we had already paid for sunbeds and were also going to spend on lunch, drinks and desserts was not enough, and this was enough reason for them to treat us in an absolutely unacceptable way and kick us out in front of a 5 year old child. What makes things even worse is that the owner was present the whole time, witnessed the way we were treated, and did not say a word, on the contrary she carried on enjoying her wine and laughing in company of her friends. Our husbands and ourselves were shocked and left the place immediately; definitely won't be returning. This is a case of a business becoming greedy and treating guests like dollars, please do yourselves a favour and do not support this kind of businesses, there are plenty of other honest people with local shops fighting to make ends meet...
Read moreI recently visited Akron Restaurant, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience! The food was absolutely delicious, with a focus on fresh seafood that exceeded our expectations. The ceviche was hands down my favorite dish, so fresh and flavorful, I couldn’t get enough of it! For the quality of the food, the prices were completely justified — you get what you pay for, and it’s worth every penny.
We chose to sit in the restaurant, enjoying the delicious food and the relaxing vibe, but there were also beautiful options to enjoy the venue outdoors. Whether you're relaxing on their adorable boho-style sun beds or dipping your toes in the little pool (I’m not sure if a reservation is needed for that), the ambiance is perfect for a laid-back yet elegant experience.
What makes Akron even more special is the stunning view of Saint Marina’s Gulf and the endless, infinite sea beyond. Whether you're seated in the restaurant or relaxing on their boho-style sun beds, you're treated to breathtaking vistas that perfectly complement the dining experience. The sight of the serene waters stretching out into the horizon adds a peaceful and luxurious ambiance to your meal, making it all the more memorable.
Last but not least, the staff at Akron were outstanding—extremely kind and helpful throughout the entire meal. They poured wine into our glasses and they were very informative when helping us navigate the menu. On top of that, the service was impressively fast without feeling rushed.
We’re from Corfu, and my parents have been to Akron a few more times, but I hadn’t visited since I was little. It was such a wonderful experience to return and see how the place has evolved. The food, the service, and the atmosphere were all amazing. Highly recommended for those seeking a great combination of food, view, and...
Read moreNice location, ample parking, and friendly waiters. But that's where the positives end. Slow service, and above all, a huge problem: we spent €150 for two beach loungers in the front row, thinking we were paying for comfort and privacy.
The result? From 2:00 PM onward, we found ourselves with people from the public beach standing within 10 cm of our lounger, towels everywhere, to the point that we literally had to slalom to get to the beach. So, those who paid nothing found themselves in a better position than us, who spent well above the average for other establishments.
Let's add another €40 for lunch, for a total of about €190 spent in a single day. And for what? For neither exclusivity nor comfort, but the feeling of being on a public beach.
Honestly, it's unacceptable. Paying more should mean getting more, not being squeezed in by the crowd. This is how you fool the customer. Additionally, when booking, I asked if it was possible to blow out a candle with a cake, perhaps. I was told they could serve us a dessert, such as tiramisu with a candle. The package also included a bottle of sparkling wine, and I asked the waiter if it would be possible to have this tiramisu with candles along with the sparkling wine. The response? "We don't serve desserts on the beach, only at the table."
And I really don't understand this: drinks, appetizers, and even full meals are served on the loungers (so much so that we had lunch right there). So what did it cost to bring a dessert to the beach? It would have been a small gesture, but it would have made a difference. Instead, all that's left is the impression of sloppy service and no real attention to...
