Incredibly bad service. If you want to wait: 30 mins for drinks 1hr 15 mins for some bread And 1hr 55 mins for your food then GO HERE! (Bonus: no communication from the waiters about long waiting time)
We came to the restaurant with high hopes of having a great experience. When we came we were placed at a table behind a well covering the view from the Greek dancers that were on, when we asked if we could move to one of the other available tables the waiter told us: “no the view here is good, no problem”
It took almost 30 minutes to get a bottle of water + drinks for the table and we asked multiple waiters if we could order food but they always said that we should ask another waiter as this person was responsible for food. We also asked if they could bring this person as it was taking very long and they said yes of course, nothing still happened.
To wait 1 hr and 15 mins for some garlic bread that we explicitly stated that we wanted ASAP because we already had waited is not fine and highly unprofessional. We then decided to tell the waiters that we’d gladly pay for our drinks and leave. This waiter then had to go and check with other waiters if this was ok as their system is divided (one for drinks and one for food).
When we tried to tell the food waiter that we wanted to pay she didn’t even listen and just said “3 minutes”. We were honestly in shock. When we are clearly upset due to bad service, then bare minimum is to listen to your customers. We get the food and it was decent but nothing more than that.
We then tell the waiter that we would still like the bill and skip the desert (we ordered a fixed 3 course dinner) and would like that taken of the bill. When the bill comes back: nothing is deducted, and the waiter just pretends that everything is great? No extra service, no nothing and rather gets mad at us saying that we have to understand that it is normal that it takes this long. No. We all have worked many years in the restaurant business in multiple places but 1hr 45mins wait is unacceptable. And if so, you clearly communicate the customers that the restaurant is very busy and offer something small on the house for the extra waiting time.
Last thing. Reading the owners’ answer to other “bad” reviews is...
Read moreWe were recommended this restaurant and decided to book it for our first night. We ordered some starters, which were nice, and for my main I had mussels with a side of fries. The flavour of the mussels was lovely at first, but by the third one, I encountered a couple that were tightly closed and then one that was nearly raw. This might be how they cook them, but I’ve eaten mussels in many places, from Michelin-starred restaurants to local bistros, and the difference between the first few — which were delicious — and the one I had to spit out into a tissue was stark.
I was instantly put off my food and kindly mentioned to the waitress that I thought some of them were undercooked. I told her not to worry about replacing the dish and that I just wouldn’t eat the rest.
Unfortunately, this is where things took a turn for the worse. As my husband finished his meal, the manager came over in a passive-aggressive manner and began questioning me about the mussels, saying, “I don’t know if you know how mussels are supposed to be cooked.” I was stunned. So taken aback, in fact, that I didn’t say much in response. He repeatedly mentioned that he owned the apartment we were staying in and came across as arrogant and, frankly, rude.
He pointed out that we had complimentary drinks because we were guests of the apartment and said he would take the mussels off the bill. I agreed and thanked him, saying we would pay for the rest. There was no apology, no sense of hospitality, and no warmth — he simply walked off.
The whole experience left me really upset, and my husband felt the same. We paid quickly and left, feeling deflated. It put a real dampener on our first night. I’ve waited until we checked out of the apartment to write this review, as I genuinely felt anxious that he might ask us to leave early.
From what I observed, he was very warm and friendly to people who appeared to be regulars, but our experience felt cold and disheartening.
If you’re looking for somewhere with an upscale appearance, this place might appeal to you. But if you value warmth, hospitality, and being made to feel welcome, there are plenty of wonderful restaurants nearby where people have real heart and make you feel...
Read moreFirst & foremost the service & atmosphere of this place was wonderful. My low rating should not reflect on this at all and soley low ranking due to the food.
My partner & I did not make a reservation however the servers made space and time for us which we highly appreciate. They did their best to stay on time to the 30 minute wait which they were diligent with, and very attentive. The garden is beautiful and the atmosphere is sublime.
However, the food really let this place down. First of all, multiple dishes on the menu were not available, to wait 30 minutes and then be told this when the waiter is taking your order, only to add more time to your wait is quite disappointing.
I would not recommend for this factor - I ordered the Sofrito and the potatoes were underdone, some nearly not done at all- the aubergine and courgette were still bitter and clearly had not had time to be prepared. Though the beef was good, every other element on the plate was severely lacking. The starter which was the fried feta with honey also wasnt done well- im not sure if the fryer they have is poor as my partners fries, just like the starter, came soggy with oil instead of fried. I don't know if this is because the kitchen was overbooked & didn't have time to properly prepare the dishes. It was disappointing to say the least, especially to pay €40 euro per head. The wait time between starter and main was 25 minutes, which is cutting it abit too high.
We also wanted to order a desert but multiple of our choices were not available.
Whilst the staff were wonderful as we're the surroundings, I would highly not recommend - after all, it is a restaurant, you come for the experience of food, and when so many items on the menu are not available (and not even crossed out/warned about this) and the food that is available comes poorly made, all with such a high cost, it really let's down the rest of the experience.
Save some time and money, go to a souvlaki joint or the taverna 5...
