Taverna Nausika is by far the best place to eat in Paleokastrica and one of the best in Corfu. We travelled around the island by car visiting one beach in the morning and a second one in the afternoon totalling over 20 different places where we’ve tried the local food but the food could not compare and we always returned to Nausika for dinner and once for lunch - the food and service is second to none!
Nausika is run by Nikos and his family who go out of their way to make sure you have a most enjoyable time. We’ve tried most things on the menu and it’s all great (see pictures attached) On occasions we forgot to take a picture of some of the food we had such as the musaka, which is to die for, it is absolutely amazing and we recommend it! The corfiot dishes and Nausika tavern specialities are heavenly - the beef stipado and Nausika chicken in a cream and metaxa sauce...my god! The seafood...the most important part of the menu for me when it comes to being on a greek island surrounded by sea and wow do Nausika deliver. The seafood is fresh and divine. Please see our pictures, the squid, the fried squid (ie calamari), the octopus - the octopus was just out of this world, we even asked Nikolas if he could arrange for a whole octopus dinner and that was not a problem, a couple of days later we had this amazing big platter (see pictures), which my wife and I finished in 25min. If you want octopus 9or any seafood for that matter Nausika is the place!
Due to coronavirus the Greek government have halted all dancing in taverns, however performances are allowed and on Saturday’s you have traditional Greek dancing, which is quite entertaining (see pictures attached).
Today we will spend our last night in Corfu at Nausika tavern enjoying the good food, ouzo and Greek dancing.
I should also mention octopus and seafood in general goes very well with ouzo (add some ice and then 50/50 ouzo/water - it’s great). Some other dishes we loved and recommend but forgot to take pictures of are the stuffed mushrooms, the Nausika cheese (make sure to order pita bread for it- it’s devine), the mussels saganaki (goes with pita bread too), the mousaka is our of this world.
Last but not least the deserts - I mean wow! I They do tend to go very quickly btw so don’t wait. The home made deserts which Nikolas’ wife prepares are just out of this world! The cheesecake, the icecream cake, the chocolate cake, the baklava...
...Nausika is food...
Read moreA must do in Corfu!! You have to head here to really get a taste of local culture— Literally and figuratively! We loved the food and cannot recommend the trio of dips enough. The meat is smoked right out front so you can watch it cook which was cool. Great table wine carafe for a great price. The best part by far was the traditional Greek dancing around 9pm by a trio of dancers in traditional Greek dress. They did about 6 or so dances and they announced what they were before each one in case you wanted to learn more. Make sure you stick around for the finale at the end! they bring by a stack of plaster plates to every table to when the dancers do their finale, you get to throw plates at their feet. It was so much fun! I’d recommend getting a reservation since they ask that you do so via signage out front. It’s possible they have an open table but when we arrived at 7:45, there were 5 other tables seated and every other table in the restaurant had a reserved sign on it. People seemed to really show up around 8:30 since the entertainment kicked...
Read moreI recently had dinner at a Greek restaurant and absolutely loved the experience. I ordered the moussaka, which was rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced with layers of eggplant, minced meat, and creamy béchamel. I also tried the lamb, and it was tender, juicy, and seasoned beautifully, truly a highlight of the meal. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the staff were attentive and friendly, making the whole evening even more enjoyable. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and I would definitely...
