Over in Corfu/Gouvia for a week's break from Uk, We'd tried to come here before, as we pass it regularly walking to the bus stop from our nearby hotel... On the 1st visit they were full, although there were tables outside empty, strange we thought... (However the lovely maître d' lady explained it was going to rain soon and escorted us around to the sister restaurant 'RR Rodostamo Restaurant' behind/part of a 5 star hotel complex) We hoped it wasn't going to be 5 star prices... On a 2nd visit we managed to get a table and could take our pick, and by coincidence Dumitre popped in & offered us 2 glasses of bubbly to start the evening off.... Which was lovely & appreciated. The service was 1st class especially from Sokratis this evening as was the food. We started with sea bass ceviche (very tasty) & my wife the cod meatballs (not bad)... I then ordered the grilled squid (slightly tough ) however tasty and a side of chips... Glass of wine again nice with main, Baklava dessert was nice esp the delicious icecream.... The icing on the cake was getting some bread off staff and feeding the friendly...

We have already booked to return later in the week and I would throughly...
Read moreWe had three excellent meals at Aválle, the quality of ingredients is very good, dishes are interesting and well prepared, the staff are charming and the decor is warm and inviting. Our favourite restaurant on Corfu (and we tried quite a few)!
Try the stuffed squid (superb), the fried anchovy bourdeto, the slow cooked beef sofrito, for vegetarians there’s a good aubergine imam, a green salad with figs and kefalograviera cheese, a tasty Mediterranean vegetable tagliatelle, aubergine and tirokafteri dips. Desserts rizogalo and aromatic baklava with kumquat ice cream were lovely too. Try the bergamot liqueur that is locally produced...
