Arrived and asked for a table for 2. Asked if we have a reservation, and I said no. We we were re sat in the middle of the restaurant. After a time, we were asked if we wanted a drink - both my son (age 18) and I ordered a soft drink. Looking at the menu and the view overlooking the flight path, we asked if we could move to one of the free tables next to the open windows. The waiter said we had to order our food, and then they would know if we could move. There were 3 empty tables in this area - 1 had a reserved sign on it. My son ordered the burger at €12 and I ordered the authentic lamb stew at €16, plus some bread ( as hadn't been offered any which has unusual, as all the other restaurants we had visited did -€4 for rolls,no oil or butter provided). After we had ordered, we were advised that we could not move to a table by the window as there was a minimum spend of €50 per person!!! I was taken aback by this tbh. However, wanting to enjoy the evening, we accepted that rule... 40 Forty minutes later, our food arrived. My son's plate had mixed meat patties with a sauce, a tiny shredded cabbage salad, and a hanful of chips. Mine was a lamb shank with peppers, a few thinly sliced carrots, and deep fried baby potato halves - not an authentic lamb stew?
During this time, 2 women arrived and asked for a table for 2 and were seated directly at one of the window seats, without knowing how much they would spend. Consequently, they had 2 cokes and 2 pasta dishes .... €50pp I think not.. Also, shortly after, a couple arrived and again asked for a table for 2 and sat in the same area without questioning their spend!
My son did not enjoy the patties at all - really strong, flavoured meat with a lot of fat. Chips were cold and soggy. My lamb stew was disappointing as not what I call an authentic lamb strew, but more a pretentious upscaled plate of food that failed.
I can honestly say that our experience of this restaurant was disgusting. The waiting team was anything but attentive, but quite rude and almost discriminatory. The total of our...
Read moreThe mistake we made was telling staff we are leaving the island in 4 hrs. It was our last meal there. This must have triggered the expensive mode. Our waiter (George) is probably the sole reason for my 1 star rating. Firstly, he’s quite a pushy salesman, upselling the menu even when you explicitly say you are done ordering. So much so, we received two puffy rolls with our food we didn’t order - we thought „maybe pastitsada and sofrito come here like that”. Ignored them, because as explained to George we try to avoid bread + we didn’t order that so it must have been complimentary, right? When it came to paying, I was told the number 39 euro and didn’t think twice, asked to add 5 euro tip as we enjoyed the food and our time there. Upon inspecting the receipt - photo attached - I noticed two items we didn’t know about. Environmental fee 2 euro per person and Oil and Bread for 3 euro which we explicitly didn’t want. Another mistake on my part - didn’t challenge the bill - just didn’t want to destroy our mood at the end of our vacation. Was quite surprised by climate fee as during entire week none of the 7 different restaurants we visited charged us environmental fee. Upon researching, there is climate fee you pay per person per day at a hotel, NOT a restaurant. Which Nisos explictely is. Also, the 2 euro climate fee doesn’t exist in fee schedule for hotels - it’s either 1.5 for 3 star or 3 for 4 star. It was completely made up! Not only that, George was perfectly happy to allow me to add another 5 euros on top. We’ve had many great restaurant experiences on Corfu and I left several 5 star ratings. This was the only issue we run into. Right at the end of our stay. For context it’s not about the money, it’s about respecting your customer. George evidently didn’t mind ripping us off as he knew he wouldn’t see...
Read moreWe came tonight for dinner, since the reviews were so good. However, we were shocked after asking for the check that the waiter didn’t accept a payment by credit card. We managed to scratch together the amount of €45.50 from our wallets, luckily we had € 45.70 left in cash. The waiter indicated some problem with their their bank as the reason why they refused to accept credit cards and it was end of the season. He mentioned also that we could go to a nearby ATM and get cash. I wouldn’t say that he was rude, but his attitude was something like dishonest. We also pointed out that we had not ordered the 2 breads on the invoice, but didn’t refuse for paying for this item, because it was only € 4, I gave only 1 star for the food, because the mushroom risotto was probably microwaved it was ready in about 10 minutes, but a good risotto takes longer. One star for the atmosphere because of the 4 smoking adolescent customers in the restaurant. They were the only other customers. I will not go there ever again 2 Friends go for dinner does NOT make them Gay. Your comment is Homophobic and this is 2023 if you traveled too then you would know that no one carries Extra cash on vacation everything is online and one pays even for an ice cream on Corfu by card. The customer decides how to pay and you were Dishonest. Just put a sign or tell customers before that you want cash only as you don’t want to pay bank charges ! This experience and your response gives us a bad memory on the beautiful island & will remember you as a tourist trap ! Be honest don’t attack the customer on a negative review take as an encouragement...
