Taverna Zorbas Kontokali — Restaurant in Municipality of Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands

I’m very torn about this place. I came up and it was very busy and they pointed me to a table around the side, it was dirty and they said they would be over to clean it. They sat other people and started serving them and cleaned other tables around me and 10+ minutes later, after me staring them down they finally came over and he was so nice and immedately brought me a wine for the wait, I ordered all was good. The food was amazing tzatziki was fab, the bread they serve it with was just okay but still didn’t stop me from cleaning the plate. I wanted more wine and asked as I got my dip but it was over 15minutes before I got it even while actively trying to catch my server to remind him. At this point it wasn’t nearly as busy. Got my chicken souvlaki and it was so much food and it was so good! Until about half way in when I found a hair. Thankfully I was very full and fine with stopping. I didn’t mention it to the waiters because I get anxious complaining and already felt like I had been needy that night with the table and wine. WOW. We absolutely loved thos place. for its authentic environment and home cooked authentic food and it's exactly what we got. The staff are great abd explained each dish to us, we tried many starters and mains on both visits and the meatballs and Lamb Kleftiko were superb as well as every other dish we tried. Very busy wity locals says it all. Atmosphere was so great that even a football got kicked into the restaurant wity boys playing and hit the food and drinks over - an immediate round of beers and wine came in, the ladies patted themselves dry, threw the ball back to the boys and the singing and eating and drinking continued without breaking a stride. ABSOLUTELY LOVE THAT. What a place. Our favourite food we ate in all of Corfu restaurants we tried and will definitely come back again. Oh and don't plan on buying food the next day. Very bad service, super stressed, nervous, rude waiters. We waited 15 minutes for a table for 12 people to be prepared, we finally asked for two tables for 6 (one for adults, one for teenagers), they prepared a table for 4 people and a table for 8 and said “take it or leave!”, we sat at the empty tables and moved two chairs to the parents’ table ourselves. After another 15 minutes they took our order, but instead of “good evening”, they started with “we don’t have that anymore, that dish is sold out”… we reached a compromise and changed the initial order, but in another 5 minutes another even more nervous guy came to tell us that they no longer serve about 40% of our order!
