I recently had the pleasure of dining at a charming Greek family tavern, and I must say it was a delightful experience from start to finish. From the warm hospitality to the scrumptious food, every aspect of my visit left me with a smile on my face.

The star of the show were the Zucchini balls. They were absolutely divine! Crispy on the outside, while maintaining a tender and flavorful interior. The perfect balance of herbs and spices elevated the taste to another level. The accompanying salad was a refreshing complement to the Zucchini balls. The only thing we regret is that we wasted 3 of our 8 night stay in Agia Marina at different Taverns. This family run Tavern is filled with love and passion for the food and the people. We managed to enjoy many items of their selective menu, that is well thought through and inspired by both the passion and the ideas of Adonis and the chef. The small assortment ensured, that the quality and taste was outstanding. We recommend to try the fried zucchini balls, their salads and the moussaka, that give you a refreshing take on traditional greek cuisine. This is my favourite restaurant in Crete by a mile. Beautiful fresh local ingredients. Traditional recipes and cooking methods offering a tapas/mezze style small plate options. Below the restaurant you can see the kitchen in action and it is immaculately clean. The owner and his son (and the rest of the staff) are extremely friendly and very generous (offering us many shots of honey raki for free at the end of our meal). As we like to visit this restaurant multiple times per trip here we often try the daily specials here.
