We had a great night at Cicada yesterday. The service was very friendly, attentive and professional. My wife and I tried a couple of different dishes, three starters, a salad and two mains and all of our food was excellent both in composition and taste, as well as in presentation. The wine was nice too, we picked a local wine from a well curated list of both local and international options. Also I would explicitly like to mention the very capable DJ Theodore K (I asked 😉) who served the perfect sundowner soundtrack, well worthy of any Ibiza beach club (which would have easily charged us triple the price for a comparable experience). @Theodore, if you’re reading this, I would love to get a sundowner mixtape, if you can record one of your cicada sessions! Thanks for a great night out and we will be back next week as there were many more options on the menu, we are eager to try.
Update #1: We stayed a full day at the beach club on a Sunday, which was super busy, yet the staff seemed to have it all under control pretty well. Even slight delays in service were accompanied by apologies when the orders arrived, but nothing got missed. The crew definitely made some miles that day. We ate again at the restaurant in the evening and it was once more very good. Even though my steak arrived overcooked, it was immediately and without any discussion replaced with a perfect one within a few minutes, after I notified the waiter. Today we are staying at the beach again - it is a relaxed Tuesday today and tonight we will try the Sushi at the restaurant for our last evening on Crete, so I will add a second update and some more pictures the upcoming days.
Update #2: The Sushi was amazing and easily one of the best, if not THE best in the Heraklion area. I added some pictures to this post. There are classic options, as well as own creations on the menu. We ordered six different types of Sushi, each arriving in servings of 8 pieces. It was a little excessive for only two people, but we almost ate...
Read moreA NO-GO place! The location is really good, the restaurant looks nice and elegant, but that's pretty much it. It started with the partly unfriendly service, we were 6 people (2 couples and 2 toddlers 2.5 and 4 years old), the food came quickly, but it didn't have any taste. The chef doesn't use any salt or pepper. I had a chicken fillet with cous-cous (dry and no taste), my 4 year old daughter had chicken nuggets with french fries ( the french fries were sour, like they were dipped in vinegar before or fried in the fish pan and the nuggets looked like schnitzel and didn't have any kind of seasoning, not even salt, and this was from the kids menu!), my husband had a meat pizza, with literally no tomato sauce on it! It might of been in the same room with tomatoes at some point, but that's pretty much it. And during all this, the cleaning lady was mopping the floor all around us, us having the chloride smell in our faces! One of the main servers listened to us and was sorry (they took the fries out from the bill), we weren't upset with the servers, but they should reconsider keeping the chef! And all this costed around 40 euros. The food definitely isn't worth the money! The place has potential but if the food isn't good, the location doesn't...
Read moreWe (6 persons) went to Cicada restaurant with great expectations but unfortunately the only thing we enjoyed was the location and the place but nothing else. . . I think I owe to write the below review as the place is new and you need to fix your mistakes before it becomes irreversible.
Food was below mediocre 🆘 Chef needs to be more serious.
For starters we had two salads (Green and Almyra) , shrimps saganaki, fish carpaccio.
For our main dishes we had 3 fillets , 1 risotto and one fish (grouper). All‼️ of our main dishes were served cold ❄️ and in three different servings. We had the risotto 1st then after 10’ the fish and then after 5’ the three meats.
Desserts : creme brûlée and a pavlova which both need sincere revision from the pastry chef. Please fix them both.
Service 🆘🤦🏻♂️
Nobody knew what to do. Everyone was too amateur and slightly impolite. They almost threw our dishes in the table. Only one waitress was trying her best to fix the whole situation. It was clear to me that the communication between the kitchen and hall was lost.
Hint: next to the bar their is a huge fridge filled with water bottles for the beach. Please consider turning off the light of the fridge. It destroyed the...
