Parasiris Restaurant — Restaurant in Municipality of Chersonissos

Deception, if you can, look for another restaurant.

Last meal on Crete, before flight back home. Nice spot close to the beach, but big deception. Came for a quick lunch, 3 waiters and only few people in the restaurant. Waiter hardly says hello. Gives the menus and comes back 1 minute later, rather speedy, "what do you want" ? Ordered 2 drinks and asked for a little more time to have a look at the (big) menu. Waiter rather irritated with my answer. Then we asked for Greek salad and an omelet, from a second waiter, but the answer was, "no omelets today", you have to take fish or meat !? (never heard that one before).. Then the waiter takes the menu out of my hands to show me all the choices of fish and meat, with a sarcastic smile, as if I wasn't able to read.. We really had the impression that we were bothering them and that they didn't feel like working. Ok, no time to look for another restaurant, so I take sardines instead of omelet. Greek salad was small and looked strange, no oregano, but tasted about ok. Sardines were grilled, but fell apart, very "wet". Small bread was rather dry. The little raki with the bill was only for the Greek costumers next to us.. Left a tip though, didn't want to be as rude as they were. So this was not an happy end of our holidays. :-( Fortunately this kind of restaurant is rare on Crete, and nearly all other places where we ate for 2 weeks...

the place is perfect - one of the last very beautiful and classic Tavernas in full 100% Cretan Style. The owners family with pictures of all forefathers on the wall from WW2 and before. Large variety of different classic Greek Islands fish and other lamb and different food choice.

The location is wonderful along the old costal road and easy to find also after the exit of the new coastal road.

The beach just in-front with only yellow ultra fine sand - and if somebody likes after lunch even a boat rental / jetski or sun-bed rental is just 3-5min walking away.

But luckily nothing direct in front which could disturb the picture perfect seaview.

The waiters are the good old school classic Greek - and please keep your maybe stupid USA style attitude for yourself - you need to think and integrate as a foreign tourist.

You can be fooled by the appearance of the roadside establishment - it attracts you with a rustic authentic look, like for local people of the region. The service is rude, no menu is presented to you, when you order a new dish, it is placed on the previous plate you ate without being served. We are not offered a menu and we are left with the impression that the restaurant offers 3 things, it is not clear which basket costs and what kind of beer there is...but I hoped they would be of good quality. There is some kind of Menu, it was offered only to 15 tables. Bad service can be forgiven if the food is good...But you won't find delicious Greek food here. They show low quality products. The Greek salad has tasteless vegetables and very little feta cheese, Do not eat here. The beach is nice and the view, but that's not enough for...
