Karteros beach — Attraction in Municipality of Chersonissos

The beach is lovely, as soon as you get passed couple of the stones in sea its sand. The water is clear and a beautiful temperature Staff are really friendly. The food is nice there and the chips are a generous portion. Only thing is they do not cater for gluten allergies. So if you can't have gluten bring your own lunch if you wanted to make a day at the beach. The town centre we got the number 7 bus you can get the number 12 too. It's just 50 cents cheaper if you buy bus ticket before hand...

A beach used mostly by the people of Heraklion to escape the city. Long and sandy there are a selection of beach bars with sunbeds, or you can bring your own beach gear and set up for the day. If you've ever landed at Heraklion airport this is the beach you see just before you land, and plane watching is a fun part of this beach as the planes float into the airport every few minutes in the summer. There's a couple of taverns and a kiosk & shop on the road behind the beach. A beautiful sunset...

Excellent facilities if you like organised beaches. Free parking, changing rooms and toilets, and rental of a pair of sunbeds with an umbrella was only €4 in July 2019, cheaper than many other beaches. Good food service, brought right to your sunbed if you want. It's very close to Heraklion airport and you have great views of aircraft taking off and landing. If you like quiet, secluded or natural beaches - this isn't for you - but it's an easy, ideal place to visit...
