Very disappointed all round. We had looked at the reviews for this place and all seemed well we had even noticed the billboard in Koutalfari village displaying a new ‘coming soon’ premises. On arrival all was great. Was sat at a lovely table overlooking the sea. Placed an order for drinks which arrived in a not too long timescale. Placed our food order and awaited our food. Starters arrived and were delightful. We had really thought that we were in for some great food. Unfortunately not the case. 3 out of 5 mains were dreadful. Beef fajitas, meant was tough and inedible, fish fajitas, all peppers and hardly any fish, all shells for the look! Burger, asked medium to well done, came out rare to medium. When asked how our food was, we truthfully in a nice manner told the waiter. The burger we were told as it was Aberdeen Angus meat this is how it looks being medium to well done. We’re Scottish and have had Aberdeen Angus many times never looks the way it did here, the waiter placed his hand on the receipts whom ordered the burger and was told this is what u asked for this is that u got. Very patronising to say the least, No apologies. And completely unnecessary to place hands on a costumer. The beef fajitas were taken away so they could examine to see if what was stated was the case. Indeed the meat was deemed to be tough and chewy. The fish fajitas being cold and not really having much edible fish in it was completely overlooked and not mentioned by the staff. We were all made to feel that what was a truthful representation of what we all had received was us being incorrect and made to feel like we were in the wrong. We asked for the bill and was advised at that point 50% of the beef fajita meal would be taken from the bill, it was sent back and not eaten but we were still to pay for food that was taken back and binned, the waiter said in a unfriendly manner said we will take the beef off the bill still at this point no apology. The burger went back and so did the cold fish. The bill was payed for complete rubbish food. 150 euro for 3/5 of us leaving still hungry. Side note the toilets are terrible, grubby no toilet seats and dirty and unkempt looking. Would definitely avoid this place. Not very friendly and made to feel like we had done something wrong stating...
Read moreHad been on holiday in this town for 6 days by this point and feeling underwhelmed by the food, for the most part, but we looked up the menu here before going and felt really optimistic.
That optimistism was rewarded.
We got three things to share Tacos de birria - 10/10. Prepared to perfection, well balanced flavours, meat was melt in mouth tender and juicy. Chimichanga filled with marinated chicken - 9/10. Absolutely delicious. First time we've ever tried this dish and we were not disappointed. The ends are the best as they go wonderfully crispy. Grande Nachos - 8/10. Beautifully presented, exceptional size portion. My partner loved it, I kept picking up a strange (but not unpleasant) taste that I couldn't decide if I liked or not! Nor could I decipher where it was originating... the beef? The nacho cheese sauce? I'm not a big fan of cheese sauce on nachos, much prefer grated and melted mozzarella/montery Jack. Churros - 10/10. Absolutely wonderful. Great consistency, massive portion size, an absolute winner of a dish. My favourite sauce was the butterscotch. You also get Nutella! Cocktails - Down in Mexio 7/10 Mia Ti - 8/10 El Amor 7/10 Straws really let the experience of these cocktails down. Longer, in length and endurance, needed.
Staff very friendly and attentive without being intrusive, professional, knowledgeable, available to advise with recommendations for dishes and drinks. Service was very fast! Congratulations to the kitchen team on making such wonderful, flavourful and fast food. Everything was prepared and served with total care, attention to detail and pride.
Outdoor seating just fantastic. Innovative lights on table make sharing dishes around dusk easy and no wires. Lighting and candles compliment the waves to create a brilliant...
Read moreThe food is delicious, certainly worth 4 or perhaps 4.5 stars. only the service was particularly bad last time. me and my girlfriend had to wait an hour for our food and even longer for the drinks. We had to ask at least 3 times where the drinks stayed and each time we were told that it was coming. We then received a shot of our drink on the house, but still not what we ordered. After having to ask again, our drinks finally arrived after more than an hour (we had to pay in full for this!!). Everyone gets the shots we received from the house, just us a little earlier. Normally you will receive this at checkout. (we didn't get another shot after paying, so we had 0 compensations for waiting more than an our for drinks!!!). We then wanted to pay and this took another 10 minutes. I also wanted to be sure whether I had paid for the drinks, so I asked if I could get the entire bill and not just the debit receipt. This took another 10 minutes to get a receipt!!! I have never been treated so badly in a restaurant.
The atmosphere was great, but the music was way too loud. There was also a trumpet player (who is very good by the way), but after 20 minutes I was done with it. this continued for almost an hour, hence the low rating...
