"Seaside Surrealism – Passive-Aggressive Staff, Brutal Wait, Forgettable Food
The persuasive man who lured us into the restaurant was extremely seductive and promised us everything — but the moment we sat down, we were treated like crap. After waiting for over an hour, we politely asked the persuasive guy how much longer we’d have to wait, and he said, “five minutes.” Five minutes later, he came over to lecture us about why we came for dinner, saying they were full, and of course there’s a wait, what are we talking about. First of all: HE was the one who approached us — how is it our fault? Why on earth would he invite us in if he knows that they can’t serve us? Second: by this point (10 p.m.), the restaurant was barely half full, and other tables were also filled with annoyed, hungry couples and families, not getting their meal on time.
We had to wait another 25 minutes for the first dishes, which (despite our specific request!) didn’t even arrive at the same time. We asked a waiter what was going on with the rest of the food, and told him that his colleague had said 25 minutes ago that everything would be ready “in five minutes.” He started shouting indignantly: “What can I do? What can I do??” while gesturing aggressively. And what can we do, as paying guests, after 90 minutes? — We hadn’t even had lunch that day, we were starving. Later, he came back trying to act friendly and told us that when his colleague said "five minutes" half an hour earlier, that colleague had actually asked the chef, and the chef was the one who said five minutes — so we should blame the chef. This is a lie. The colleague clearly just made something up on the spot - I was there. And even if it were true, how would it help the restaurant if we blamed the chef instead of the staff?
The food itself wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t anything catharthic. This might be a small thing compared to everything else, but the pictures on the menu are misleading — for example, the photo shows a whole octopus (eight legs), but in reality, you only get three. One dish was missing its fries. They brought the food in a totally random order, and when we asked what one dish was called (so the right person could take it), the waiter panicked and ran away.
I absolutely do not recommend this place for dinner — waste of time,...
Read moreI recently dined at Marina Restaurant Cafe and was sadly disappointed with my experience. I had high expectations, but the Moussaka I ordered was far from satisfactory.
The dish lacked the rich and authentic flavors typical of Moussaka. The texture was unappealing, and it seemed as though it had not been prepared with the care one would expect from a reputable restaurant. The ingredients did not appear fresh, which further diminished the quality of the meal.
While the ambiance of the restaurant was pleasant and the staff courteous, the subpar quality of the food was a significant letdown. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and makes the necessary improvements. Based on my recent experience, I cannot recommend Marina...
Read moreWe spent wonderful days at the beach, relaxing on comfortable sunbeds under large umbrellas, and enjoying excellent food and drinks. All of this was made even better thanks to Mike—an exceptional person who is respectful, always attentive to details, and genuinely kind. His warm attitude and professionalism turned every moment into a pleasure.
The beach itself is clean, with mostly sandy areas. In the water, there are some large stones, but they don’t hurt your feet. The food was fresh, tasty, and beautifully served.
Mike, thank you for making our time in Hersonissos unforgettable! Your dedication and kindness truly made a difference in...
