If you are walking through the street in Stalis, remember the name Creta, the restaurant that gave us the best experience in the whole island. The entrance from the street view might not be the most appealing but I promise that as soon as you enter in direction to the sea you won’t be disappointed. It has such a cozy, relaxing and romantic atmosphere that made us go there twice during our short stay. The service was excellent and they made sure that we were comfortable all the way through. Last but not least, the most important part, the food. It was everything so delicious, authentic and traditional Greek food at its finest. I also recommend the house wine and to finish the meal, the lovely dessert, homemade Baklava. They were kind enough to give us as souvenir some homemade Raki to take with us. I definitely recommend this family restaurant if you want to have an amazing gastronomic experience in the small village of Stalis in Creta. Until next time!

Traditional Cretan restaurant just off the main street of Stalida. While the blue sign on the street looks rather primitive, the setting just a couple of steps closer to the seashore is stunning. Tables are situated at the edge of the cliff, overlooking the bay. If you happen to be a couple, you’d probably be seated at the front row to enjoy the sunset. The food is a mix of traditional well prepared Greek cuisine, the portions tend to be on the heavier side. Be careful with ordering too many starters or you might not conquer the main course. The service is super attentive and they’ve got some special twists that make the place memorable. For example, the ladies get their special ice cubes with rose petals frozen into them. And you won’t be leaving without some digestive drinks on the house - some of those are very generous.

By far the best restaurant we ate at on our one week break in Stalis. The reviews don’t lie and so just go and eat there!! We’ve eaten Fried Calamari all over the Med and this was by far the best and consistently good, melt in the mouth gorgeous. But all the food is excellent. However the highlight was meeting Marta who is the co-owner with her husband and she is so friendly, accommodating and with a wicked sense of humour. She always takes a drink with you if you offer her one and then makes sure you take the Raki at the end - beware 😃 Just a fabulous all round experience and we went 4 times in total, doing both lunch and dinner options.

Very clean, spacious and comfortable restaurant in central Stalis. Can have a table inside or on the terrace overlooking the beach which we did. Food was very good. The meatballs were excellent but very filling! Probably should have skipped the enormous shrimp saganaki which was delicious! The staff are very friendly and helpful. Menu varied and decent prices too. Only minor criticism was were that there was a lot of clutter on the tables designed to look attractive (decorative shells, empty wine bottles etc) but which can limit space and are a bit of a clutter! Minor issue however as food is excellent and staff/surroundings are otherwise lovely. One general whinge related to most Greek restaurants but was particularly bad here on the night we visited. We were surrounded by smokers who puffed away throught their and our meals. Made for a less than optimal dining experience. Totally unnecessary, unhealthy and should have smoking and non smoking sections of the restaurant. ...
