Taverna ODAS — Restaurant in Municipality of Chersonissos

Incredible food. Incredible atmosphere. Incredible service that unfortunately fell flat at the end.

From sitting down the Shrimp Sagananki was incredible. Sauce wasn't oily, but rich and flavourful! Cooked to perfection.

The Lamb Chops and the Mix grill were again flawless. Each bite an absolute delight to enjoy to the fullest.

We didn't leave with our just desserts though.

The fruit and ice cream was a giant bowl of whipped cream and ice cream. While the fruits were nice the amount of cream and ice-cream just made this a sugary soupy mess to be so big.

The Sfakiani Pita was also a letdown. It arrived burnt and hard, the server ran as fast as they put the plate down, when they'd been so polite beforehand. Cretian Pie like this is a staple, having had this a few times in my stay in crete, it had been crepe like with the sour cheese complimenting the sweet honey. When brought up that mine was burnt and hard the server explained that I'm just not used to cretian food. This obviously left a bitter taste in my mouth just like the pie they served.

We went for my sister in law birthday and the service on the first place was really nice. My husband asked for the tenderloin and I specifically requested the number of grams that were served (meaning cooked) with the steak, I was told the that it would be between 250/300g.

The steak we receive was far from 200g and when I raise it I was treated like a liar who did not even asked.

My other sister in law did not like her dish which they understood and took back and gave her the menu for her to choose something else. However after a couple of minute of tasting our dishes and finishing the salads we ordered as a starters she was not hungry anymore, the waiter had the nerve to tell her “are you ordering something else or are you eating in everyone’s plate”.

At the end we finished the evening a bit disappointed and almost shocked about the staff behaviour.

I do not recommend this place. Is better to go to Alexis Taverna, what is 1 min walk from this place, there you can find amazing Greek food with full of flavour from extremly fresh ingredients❤️ Food is very bad quality at Odas taverna, it is so greasy and you can taste old oil, they need to change it in their fryer defently. I am foodie person but I could not finish food, because of the flavour and how greasy it was, felt like it was waste of time and money really. We took pictures only from starters, cause its looked nice and tasted all right. But our main food looked very average and tasted horrible. I had chicken gyros, it was extremly salty, that I can not taste pork even, with old oil aftertaste, even wine can not flash this aftertaste and I had it for the rest of the evening.
