Alexis Taverna — Restaurant in Municipality of Chersonissos

We came to know about this restaurant by checking Google which mentioned a real good rating. As a summary of the evening we spent there:

The drinks received really quick including a very good Retsina. One!!! hour later our main course arrived after complaining. We ordered Gyros and Moussaka. The portion of gyros was really small (that’s what my tiny girl said as well) and the fries. got out way to early from their deep frier. My Moussaka had been to long in the oven and it got cheese on it looking like convenience.

Around us two tables of French families as well as one table of German guys (one did not have his meal when other three of his group finished theirs) were complaining.

We have tried in total four restaurants out in Malia, and all I would have rated between 4,5 and 5. And so much I could imagine how the young guy with glasses who was serving apologized himself several times, I guess we could feel how it becomes when the staff got dezimized due to the pandemic.

Anyway, I tried to be very transparent and hope I could at least give some hints for improvements.

BTW: This was one of really the few times I gave not any tip, but based on what could I have done that.

All the best for the future! But we will definitely not come...

The Alexis Taverna is a must for dinner if you are staying in Malia or Sissi. My partner and I had dinner there tonight on the recommendation of our Taxi driver and were not disappointed. The food was amazing from the fresh breads and olive tapanade to the swordfish and Stifado mains. The atmosphere is very relaxed and the staff do everything they can to please the customer. After our meal the staff called a taxi for us and brought us a lovely complimentary plate of fruit and a glass of wine. A lovely touch to an already perfect meal. The food has an authentic Greek feel and is of the highest quality. Can't recommend this place enough. If you are in Malia, just go...

I was passing by and noticed the place. The owner invited me in and offered an alcoholic beverage but later I wad told it’s too early. I sat with a real old man just to hear I talk too much. The owner really had a disrespectful attitude nevertheless to contribute I got permission to photograph. What amazed me was when I asked for a paper top with Crete on it and he lied to me There were too many on the second floor. I was going to hung it on one of my walls back in Virginia. I really don’t care to go eat there when instead of being grateful of spending my time to post the pictures on Google Maps he was sarcastic....
